I have a 5 round remington 223-204 cal magazine that I would like to convert to a 10 rounder.. Has anyone done this before and if so can you give me the recipe for it?? I wouldn't screw with it but the magazine matches the rig realtree HD.. I know! I know ! Thanks!!!!

You could cut the bottom off the follower, but no guarantee that it will ever function properly again. I wouldn't do it personally.
If you wreck the follower, it would be easy to get a better one anyway though.

+1 with CBASS. I wouldn't mess with it either. If you are dead set on the Max-1, go buy a good magazine and have it hydro dipped to match. Or...when I bought my R-15 I got two of the Remington "5 round" mags with it. They both hold ten rounds though. Not sure what the deal is as they are advertised as "five round" mags. They are spendy, but if you don't like it, take it back.

if it is just a follower in those holding it up why not just get a new follower from c-products or magpull
they are only around 2 bucks each

If it's a true 5rd mag...then it will be very close to flush with the mag well when it's inserted into the weapon and as such...it won't matter what kind of follower you put in it.
You'd need to completely chop off the legs of the follower to even come close to getting 10 to fit.

If you can see enough camo sticking out the bottom that you like the pattern, I'm guessing it's a blocked 10 rounder already.

Take the plate off the bottom, pull out the spring and follower, and see if there is anything else inside it.

Take some pics while you're at it. It will make this an easy fix if it's possible or completely squash it if it's not.

I wouldn't chance it brother. It would be much easier to convert a 20 or 30 rd mag than a 5 to a 10. I know that you want to keep the mag w/ the Realtree pattern, but if you "F" it up then it will turn into a decoration instead of a functional magazine.

Couldn't you get a 10 rnd mag camo dipped from where the mag sticks out below the magazine well?

the only thing you MAYBE would need to alter is the follower, and if you mess it up beyond use...they are cheap to replace.

Still, it would be easier to find another one online and keep the 5 rounder intact. Heck, you could probably even find someone to trade you strait up for a 10 round mag in the same pattern.

That just doesn't make sense at all unless his 5 round mag is truly just a blocked 10round mag body. In which case, removing the block would suffice.

If he has a real 5 round mag...putting 10round guts inside it won't do anything beneficial.

I have both a 5 and 10 round magazine. They are "C Product brand". The ONLY thing different is the spring. It has about 2 inches worth of spring that is fully compressed already.

The five rounder is one the right.

I've cut the springs off of a few five rounders and made them 10. There came with R-15's. There is just too much spring on the 5 rounder. I cut the bottom off and reattached it to the cover.

I was always under the assumption that the spring "ONLY" is what needed modification. The option of cutting the springs down or off is the suggestion that i was given...Makin-smoke how do you decide how much modification to make to the springs?? A safe way of adjusting the springs in a 5 round mag. that is what I would be looking for....

Yeah the one on the right with the compressed mag spring is what my 5rnd Rem mag looked like that came with my R15. I wanted a 10 rnd mag so I just cut off about 1/2 of the compressed spring, stretched the remainder and reassembled the mag. It works fine and will hold about 9 rnds-I could cut another loop or two and get 10 I reckon but 9 is enough. I just like a shorter mag for hunting and a 10rnd is about right. TTT
