Don't know about Missouri law on nuisance animals, but if you'll get yourself a couple of Geese and teach them to sleep in the chicken coop as well, they'll stand guard about as good as a bulldog. Had mine in there one time and they started nesting, woke up to smell of skunk on a morning or two and didn't think much of it, as skunks just kinda smell that way.
Walked out one morning and the whole farmyard wreaked of skunk. Got to the barn and it was worse! Opened the chicken coop and it about blew me over!! Skunk had got in the chicken coop and was after the goose nest since it was the only one on the floor, and those 2 geese had literally beat that skunk to death, inside the chicken coop!
Several days later the chickens, the geese, and me all smelled normal again, but it took weeks before the barn smelled like a barn again!! And, that old goose hatched off every egg she set undisturbed. There were coon tracks up to the door, there were fox tracks up to the door, there were skunk tracks up to the door after that, but nothing ever went missing in the chicken coop again as long as I had those geese.
