Those of you lucky enough too have a Cooper. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif How did you get it? Did you buy it off the shelf or order it?
If you ordeded it ,did you go through Cooper dealer or can any ffl holder get one?

Is there at set price they get sold at or are they flexible?

Thanks for your time !!

I have one in 6BR and one in .223, both have competition gun like accuracy with hand loads. Fit and finish on both are flawless and the walnut stock on the .223 is very fancy and I happen to appreciate to look of fancy walnut. One feature worth mention is their trigger, it can be adjusted to benchrest like quality and it will stay in tune.
I bought the 6BR in Pheonix NIB from a stocking dealer and the .223 was used at a substantial discount that I'll be a fool if I walked away. So, what do I think of them?
I think they are the closest thing if not better than a custom gun. But, unless you are looking to have custom features or want to upgrade to the fancy wood stock, I think special ordering would not the be the best in your interest. There are lots of stocking dealer across the country, if they have one in the caliber you want on hand, buying off the shelf will save you time and $$, there is no need to 2nd guess the quality.
BTW. I read Cooper announced they will have a 20% price increase starting 2007, so whatever you decide, you should act fast.

My 2 I purchased from a dealer here in Manitoba. First one was a 223 Montana Varminter other is a 204 Varminter they are great shooting guns!! Both where on the shelf not ordered. 9 month wait would drive me nuts or at least that is what the wait was when I looked into ordering one. I would recommend them to anyone !! Price is fairly fixed from what I have seen not much play in it.

Stevensville MT. is the town /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was lucky enough to order mine from Dan Cooper in person at the Harrisburg outdoor show. Got to get some nice extras at no cost by doing so, had it delivered to the Outdoorsman in Kingsley Pa. It is a 22br with a 26"barrel. Really shoots. Only thing I did not care for is that it is the model 22 long action for the larger bolt face. The short 22br looks kind of lost in that long action. But shooting like it does, well I just don't really care that much. I am really happy with it.

My loacl scheels carrys them, they look like very nice rifles, there made in montana but I forgot the city.

The Coopers typically found at Scheels are kind of a "hybrid" Cooper if you will. The action has a serial number reading "Scheels XXX" on it as well as the MTV stock with the Buick holes for barrel venting but with a grade of wood lower than found normally on a factory MTV. The also come with a couple of other minor cosmetic differences.

But, for a littel less money, the Cooper guarantee applies to them and you get the same factory fired 42 yard target with a Scheels rifle. All in all they're a good buy but slightly different than a Cooper bought from the factory or from one of the bigger Cooper distributors.

The three bigger distributors mentioned here generally all three have a good selection of factory style Coopers to choose from on the shelf.

I got mine from NJ firearms guild who always has a really large stock on hand. They probably stock more coopers than any other type of rifle or at least seems that way. When I bought my 20vt, I had three to chose from. Think that says alot. Great guys to deal with too.

Ditto Claimbusters. Got mine from First Stop Guns through GunsAmerica. (Good folks, good service.) Many of the advertisers will show multiple views of the stock as well as the test target. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I shopped for quite a while for the wood/target I liked while I schmoozed "the little lady". The test targets ARE, as you probably know, shot at about 42 yds but Cooper does gaurantee a 1/2" 3-shot 100yd group. Good luck.

I ordered mind direct from Cooper . I have the LH in 17 HMR with the Sporter SS Match barrel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Everyone is not as lucky as Cajin! LOL!!! Cooper's seem to be great rifles. The only thing I have against them is they are single shots.

I only shoot one shot at a time. If I am in good PD country my barrels stay cooler.

I got my three coopers from an estate sale for $600 each. 223, 243, and 308.

You deserve that great deal for the super duper COL gauge you provide us /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
