copper fouling

what do you guys use for copper fouling? i'm using barnes cr-10 right now. is there anything more efffective? it works , but i have to repeat the process several times. nef 243, barrel is rough still ( less than 4 boxes of ammo thru it) anything work faster? goin to hit it with jb to try and get rid of some of the machine marks (worked for my 223 nef) tia!!!

I use a swab of steel wool and valve lapping compound if they're real rough. 25 strkes then see if it fouls bad maybe repeat if it doesn't slow down.

The traditional best is Sweets 7.62. Lately the Montana Extreme is getting good reports.

Whatever you use it usually helps to alternate it with JB because most bores are fouled with layers of copper and powder.

Of late I have been using Wipe Out then Montana Extreme, they both have been working excellent for me.
Sure beats the heck out of the old stuff....Shooters Choice!

Montana Extreme is the best copper solvent that I have ever used period. I had used Butch's Bore Shine prior to going over to Montana Extreme. I thought that I would get one of my rifles out that I hadn't shot since last cleaning with Butch's, and see if Montana Extreme pulled in copper out of it, and it did on the first wet patch. Dang it, I ended up having to clean all of my firearms all over again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Copper Melt
Its expensive and more importantly its not mainstream, so it must not work /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif. I have told all my friends about this stuff and they all have started using it. All my guns come clean with 3 patches or less, proven with a hawkeye bore scope. I'm glad I have a stock pile of it, it can be hard to come by.
