Just curious as to which copper solvent you guy's use and if one works better than another???

Boretech Cu+2 it's good and it doesn't smell like all that ammonia based stuff.

I use Sweets 7.62 yes its smells like ammonia but it works great.

Sweets or CR-10, they both worked about the same for me. I ended up just using Wipe-out foaming bore cleaner, though. It got the copper out great, just takes a little longer.
Make sure you don't use bronze/brass brushes with any of them, as they'll dissolve those, too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I used Sweets 7.62 for many years. Also tried several others including Barnes. Sweets will rust heck out of your barrel if you do not follow it with an oil. Also, Sweets will react to Shooter's Choice if you do not get it all out.
The foam is a joke unless you have the accelerator and can let it sit over night.
Montana Extreme 50 BMG is the very best that I have used that is affordable as a copper solvent, 15 minutes and you are done unless your barrel is a copper pig.
Copper Melt is the best, but it so expensive that I can not afford to use it.
All of Montana Extreme products are Oil based.
If you have a barrel that copper fouls real bad, then try the JB on a plastic brush, it will clean your barrel in a very big hurry.

I am a BIG fan of the foaming bore cleaners. They do not smell. I let it sit at least an hour and wipe out. If I still get blue shoot it again. I will admit I have foamed some barrels 3 times. It is not the fastest but it does not smell and it takes very little effort to push a patch thru. No brushing required. I finish up with Kroil.

Wipe Out works very well for me. I use Hoppes #9 to get the carbon out and then follow it up with a shot of Wipe Out, an hour or two will usually take care of it, if not I'll put a patch through it in the morning and I'm done. I do not use the accelerator, no need.

Any of the Ammonia based bore cleaners will rust the bore if not removed and bore oiled. The necessity to repeatedly run the rod through the bore is why I quit using them, as I feel that even w/coated rods and bore guides the less you have to scrub a bore, the better. A couple of years ago, I called Shooter's Choice and asked them about the rumored reaction between Sweet's and SC and they said that it was just a rumor???? I always avoided the two (back to back) but have never heard of anyone who actually had a problem, but have to admit, I don't use either any longer because the foam works for me.
Accelerator is just that, it allows copper to be removed in shorter time than without, but is not necessary. Wipeout, it is a much better copper solvent than powder/carbon solvent. As Tacknut says below, if you want to give it a fair shake, run a patch of Hoppes 9 or Hoppes Benchrest through the bore to remove powder fowling, dry patch and then put the foam in the bore. Unless you have fired a lot of rounds or have a rough bore, one 2 hour (or so) treatment w/foam will remove all copper. The tougher cases can be left overnight if necessary, unlike Sweet's or other ammonia based solvents. Even though Wipeout claims you can leave their product in the bore during storage, I still dry patch and oil bore w/CLP if rifle is not to be shot shortly.
