Cost for coyote mount?

I have a black one at the taxidermy right now. My guy here charges $300 for a full body mount. Quite shocking, i jumped all over it.

I'm not sure yet. I'll have to stare at it for awhile and see what I can dream up.

My house is pretty much full of critters , so room is the problem.

I have a big McKenzie Taxidermy book here. All the coyote forms are about $125...just for the form. I think $650 for a coyote mount would be a good price. After costs, I bet a taxidermist doesn't make much per hour, when they do a full body mount on a coyote. Alot of hours into it.

My son dabbles in taxidermy some, has done some really nice deer, and a full-size coyote mount for me and a pedistal mount, as well as a full-size red fox.

I can vouch for what Tony just said - after the costs of all the supplies, a taxidermist doesn't clear much money, especially given the long hours they spend on each animal. My son will stay up all night when doing a deer, and that's after he has previously either tanned or preserved the hide and got everything ready to go. Then, he has to keep check on it during the drying time, and then touch up paint later. It's a lengthy process.
 
Cost of materials, tanning, habitat/base and how many man hours it takes to do the mount. Then figure out what you want to make. Been doing this since 1974.

Thanks Tim. Getting ready to start sewing a lifesize mt. lion this week, about a 130 lb tom, not huge but a nice specimen....and since the Arizona cats don't have the bellies like the northern ones, I had to get the sawsall out today and then pour some more foam in/on the mannikin....arggghh.....

Taxi prices are dependant on area. Around here, $400 is average for a deer head. Lifesize small game $450 and up. A good rule of thumb is cost of materials X4. A yote form is around $100, $20 for eyes, $10 for ear liners, $50 for hide prep, another $20 for clay, thread etc. Average it out and you're at $800 and thats not including any habitat yet. If you get fancy with the base it can go another couple hundred. Heres a few examples of my work.. nothing fancy, just alot of time and care to get it right

some great looking mounts!

I had my last coyote fleshed/tanned with USA foxx and furs. I think it was about $75, turned out pretty good, just hanging on the wall now.
