Cougar call

Thanks to my friend BobR in the great state of Washington, I now have actual recording of certain cougar vocalizations. I can't reveal exactly what these sounds mean to the cougar just yet, because of certain trade secrets. At my age, I need to have an "edge" of some sort on my competition. What I CAN tell you is this--- I have developed a mouth blown call that will reproduce these vocalizations to perfection. I will soon be recording some instructions on how to make these sounds on the new call. Like all Cronk calls, the new cougar calls will be custom made and tuned by me before shipment. These calls will call all cougars that hear it, once you learn how to blow the call properly. The most amazing thing to me is just how easy these things are to blow. This call is blown softly, but the sounds produced are loud and very realistic. Stay tuned for more about the new Cronk cougar call.

Rich put me on the list. my first cougar i called made a sound almost like a cow Elk. kinda of a whistle.got to see it but didnt get it sly little devil's.going to do some serios calling this year that might help. good job. Rick

Keep us posted on this as I'm definitely interested. Hopefully there will be some actual sounds that we will have available so that we know how it is supposed to sound like. I live in Washington and we do have cougars to hunt, if we can bring them in. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

Put me on the list too. No cougars here, but I'd like one. Might be fun to mess with the barn cats. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sidewinder,
Yes, my plan is to make an instruction cassete that will have the sounds for you to listen to and how to reproduce those sounds with the new call. My friend BobR will receive the first call because without him, I would not be this far into a new breakthrough concerning cougar calling. Bob has cougars in his back yard, and I think he may actually BE part cougar.

I to have met BobR he's as crazy as me on getting cougar's. he live's in an awsome area. that's one great thing about Rich he alway's make's a cassette he put's his time in it.you guy's he make's a great Bear call too.Rick

Just curious as to how many big cats this call has called in and been seen or shot?..Very interesting as we have a lot of big cats here in Nevada,,,NVWalt

I believe that bobcats PROBABLY use similar vocalizations. I believe this because the recorded sounds of these cougars sound very similar to those a domestic cat uses, except the cougar's voice is that of a larger cat if that makes any sense to you. I have perfected the sound of an adult female cougar using my new mouth blown call. I am working on cougar kitten vocalization at this time. The call is open reed design, so many other sounds can also be reproduced.
Stay tuned for more details that will be coming soon.

NV,
There have been no cougars called with my new call as of yet because it has not been blown in cougar country. Ask me again next winter please. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank's for the reply Rich. Looking forward to seeing and maybe using one. Our season on lions is 24/7 here and would be glad to field test one for ya as I have one of your howlers and I know it works..NVWalt

Rich,

Please add me to the list of potential buyers for the "Cronk Cougar". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif Sounds like we are going to get our first cougar season either this fall or more than likely for the 2006 season /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif. Need to be prepared /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks,

Rich and I have a copy of a quality video that not only has these cougar vocalizations on it, but you can see the cat making the sound. You can also see the response these sounds get. A female and three cubs were videoed for one year. They are very vocal on the video. One of the cubs got separated from the family one night. Its attempt to locate mom by calling her lured in a big tom that killed the 8 1/2 month old cub. The next morning, the two remaining cubs were high atop a fir tree, still fearful the big tom was near by. Rich has sent me sound clips of this new call, and he is right on the money. This is the first hand call I have ever heard that sounds like a cat.
A friend of mine killed a big tom last year in February.
That cat weighed 171 pounds, and its stomach and intestines were empty. It was traveling with a large female. This was during the breeding season, and the cats do not eat or hunt when they are breeding. They are very vocal during breeding. Rich's new call will produce the female in heat vocals also. That big tom last year was killed late in the day. When we went to get it the next morning, the female's tracks were all around the tom's carcass.
But Rich has to get these sounds on tape so you will know what sounds to make with the call.
Bob

I am working on the cougar kitten sounds right now, and I hope to get the instruction cassette recorded within next few days. Please keep an eye on this thread for more details.

awsome guy's. tell me Rich isnt devoted to his callmaking. i've got several of Rich's call's with tape's the killer call is one.thank's Rich and BobR. Rick

If you are keeping a list of interested parties, please add me to that list. Even if you are not keeping a list, I am still interested.
Please keep us posted as to your progress.
Thanks, Cactus Rat

Rich, I like the new sound waves you just e-mailed. On the cougarkit wave, there is a perfect imitation of the kitten sound. It is near the middle of the wave you sent. It is a high pitch squeal and longer than some of the other sounds on the wave. It is perfect. The Madcougar wave is also very good. Cougars make a cat growl, or scowl. It is a warning sound I believe. I have heard that sound several times when calling at night. My son and I heard it twice on one stand six years ago. That cat was within 50 yards of us, but we never saw it, As far as I am concerned, my calls are ready to ship. I am sending a blank check today. I will start recording some sounds when I get them. Thanks, Bob

BobR,
Thank you for the input. I just now sent you a wav that I dubbed kitWhistle. Let me know what you think about it.

Guys,
I want to get a little more input from Bob, after which I will record the instruction cassette. I will demonstrate the sounds and explain how to make them with this new cougar call. All of the sounds are made with very same call.

Rich and BobR, very interested in your new call just getting into predator hunting and have a lot to learn, Im just a rookie /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif and this site is athe best place to start /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
