Your definitions of plinking are different. You say that his "plinking" ammo is not accurate. For him, 2 inches at whatever is accurate ENOUGH for shooting the things he wants to at the distance the ammo will be shot at. Hence the reason people have cheap ammo, and premium ammo. The cheap stuff will still make a gong ring or put a hole in a "insert object here", but won't be used for hunting, or target shooting. Hyper velocity vs subsonic rimfire ammo, steel case vs. brass. Wolf vs. Hornady etc. I wouldn't use $1 a pop ammo to shoot ballons when I can shoot $.11 a pop ammo. That $.11 a pop ammo isn't made for shooting animals, and isn't legal in some states, but I can load a magazine of it, and then unload it for 90% less than the premium ammo.
