I typically post videos in the order they were hunted. I am falling behind as I have around 7 to post. However, I decided to jump ahead to my last hunt.
My anticipation was very high for this hunt. Before the season started, I had made a personal goal of 200 coyotes this season. I have gotten close many times, but haven't reached this milestone during one season. I knew this hunt was going to be difficult. The forecast was looking good but just before leaving for a 2+ hour drive to my hunting location for the night, the forecast changed to fog. The current conditions were already saying fog/mist. My hope was the wind was supposed to shift and the fog would clear by the time I reached the hunting area.
When I reached my first hunting location, visibility was about 50' but the Bering thermals were still able to get the job done. By the time I got back to my truck from the first stand, visibility had decreased to the point driving was becoming dangerous.
I decided to start to head home with the thought if it clears at all, I am just going to start hunting wherever I was at. About 30 minutes later, I drove into an area where the fog was better. It wasn't great but it was safe to drive and hunt again. I started looking for public land to hunt in the nearby area as it was an area I don't usually hunt.
I got in some additional stands before the fog forced me out again. I was able to get 5 coyotes which put me over the 200 mark. There is a little over 2 months of the ND night hunting season. Usually by the end of the night season, I shut it down anyway. I have met my goal, but now the question is what will the final total be. I think the biggest factor will be the weather. If the heavy snows stay away, the number could be a lot higher.
