Which works better? An open can of cat food, or an open can of dog food?
Got a pesky coyote up here in the Blue Ridge area which my anti gun and anti hunting wife has ordered me to find and kill. It has been showing up in the area around the house in daylight hours, and scaring the cats to the extent they won't go outside without us. My wife (who hates guns and hunting, did I mention that?) went out with the cats the other day and the coyote appeared. Cats ran to the door, wife opens door, gets one of my .45s and comes back out and blazes away at the coyote. She said kicked up some dust around him (no rain lately) and then he ran away. (Smart thing. I would have probably run too.) Range was about 40 yards, so I would have used the Winchester had I been home, but she chose the M-25. Anyway I now have "orders" to zap the critter. I have picked out a spot [I truly doubt it will come out and stand out in the open outside the door for me like it does for her. Even Bambi doesn't do that anymore. I am a little (bout 140 pounds) bigger than the wife.] I have dusted off the scoped M1A NM, ordered some reduced recoil 125 ammo, and a remote control electronic lure thingie. The selected kill zone is about 100 yards from the selected shooting position. Prevailing winds normally blow from the kill zone to the shooting position so I don't think my scent will be a problem. My thought is for the next week or so, take to dumping the canned food at the spot, set up the call box when Fed Ex delivers it, then a day or so later, do the deed. Which brings us back to the question. Which works better, canned cat food, or canned dog food?
