coyote bear buster

i have a primos coyote bear buster call. i have great results from it, problem is it is a closed reed and it freezes up alot. i blow it like a rabbit distress, it is alot more raspy like the snowshoe hare.
does anybody know of an open reed call that has the same raspy, fawn distress sound?

on most opeb reeds you can go all the way in and it will be a raspy deeper pitch

Ifn you use a GOOD open reed distress or small howler. You should be able to get a good fawn distress at the upper end of the reed. Using light pressure. But it all depends on the reed and the tone board and your ability at calling. The key is to practice.
