Coyote Clothing

What do you wear when you go out in the woods Predator Hunting?

I know that 99% will be wearing camo, but what about Scent Lock clothing?

Also, what kind of footwear are you wearing? Rubber boots?

Weather will have a lot to do with what you have on (cold vs. hot, and wet vs. dry). But what about hunting up in a tree or tripod? Does that make a difference? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I wear my regular Kings Ranch Camo or Prairie Ghost and my Suede/Gortex Marine Corps boots.

NO,NO,NO Scent Lok for me.. Probably the one great Marketing Scheme that I haven't given into yet.

Weather dictates, but most of the time you'll find me in a pair of Carhartt pants, long sleeved camo tshirt, and rubber boots. Sometimes it's Mossy Oak Brush pants and long sleeved tshirt with an old pair of Rocky boots. Sometimes a shaggie cover, sometimes not. It all depends on weather....and what's clean. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Scentlok? Never touched the stuff...can't afford it.

We all have our own little thing, here is mine.....When I go coyote hunting I have on my "Blue" Wranglers and usually my "Blue" Levi shirt, if it gets cold I put on my brown carhartt jacket. As long as you don't move the coyote don't give a damn what colors you have on.
Scent lok is just what soreloser said it was when it comes to coyote hunting. Lets put it this way, Someone could lock you up in a air tight steel box and the coyote is going to smell you.
Save yourself some money and just go hunting, you'll kill as many coyotes as the next guy without all the fancy goodies.

I wear full camo, and have a 3-D leafy camo suit on order.
I use scent free detergent and cover scent. NO scentlock stuff. From what I have read, it takes at least 800 degrees to rejuvinate the activated charcoal in those suits, and a household dryer gets no where near that!!

My gun is even wrapped in "leafy" tape.

I like natgear pretty well as long as it does not rain.If i really want to hide i will wear me ghillie suit.

We try to stay in style because it also encourages my wife to participate. I have leaned toward matching camo to the area meaning non contrasting. Often we take pictures of the camo in a calling setting then change it to sepia or black & white. This is similar to what most wildlife sees it. I have found alot of camo is to busy & dark for most sets unless you're in rocks or heavy timber. Mossy Oak Brush pattern has worked well. Also Natgear brown & snow have worked well. Always wear a face net. Always Gore Tex boots usually Danner. Scent Lok well I would like to see the makers put it on and run into a hornets nest to see how well it covers the breathing trail the bees follow. Or see how long they can hide from my dog. So play the wind it works.

Im with Billy the kid.......wrangler jeans, blue work shirt, with an extra large NatGear longsleeve shirt thrown over. I have a large pair of the natGear lightweight pants that I can throw over my jeans if the spirit moves me.
3-D and the leafy stuff here in the Arizona desert makes you a 200 pound wad of velcro walking around the desert. Ive followed my pard out of a cat claw thicket many a time, and pick wads of leafy material from the branches, and giggle as I watch him "tear" his way thru the tangle.

I am not promoting Scentlok clothing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

I was just wonderin what people liked to use. I have been seeing some new light weight camo. I think it would be cooler in the hot weather and could be layered over something when it is cooler.

I really am interested in the rubber boots though. I have hunting friends that swear by them. They are not so concerned with any scents other than what they are tracking in. However, they hunt in a tree and claim that they are above "ground scent".

I have just heard so much about covering your face and hands, that I was wondering what you "professionals" wore! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Last year when I first started trying to hunt coyotes, everyone told me to put on my camo and hide in my stand. Then get a friend to step out and look at how good I blended in.

Was it Bill Cosby that talked about comfort of clothing after a certain age? Because, I really am getting bad about looking at pants and worrying about comfort. These past several years sitting behind the desk has increased my interest in loose pants! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Just wondering

I have a couple of lightweight military jackets. I think the military calls em shirts but since the material is so thick, I still call em jackets. One of them is green woodland camo, and the other is desert storm type desert color. During mild weather I put one of those on. A camo baseball cap with bill pulled low to help cast a shadow on my face, and a comfy pair of boots on my feet. A camo glove on my right hand, but I don't wear a glove on my left hand that is working the call. I think a glove muffles the sound of the call. I usually don't wear camo netting over my face anymore, but I think my shining face has cost me some coyotes too.

Good idea!

Depends on my mood, but I usually wear MO Brush pants, a Seclusion Open Country shirt, a veil, brown boots, and a cap. I usually just don't shower for a week or so before I go hunting, and the coyotes just think I am a sasquatch. J/K all, I take showers, ask Lance.

Naturalgear all the way. Had a good haul last Christmas and got a couple cool closeout sale jackets from my Mom (It pays to tell your Momma what you want for presents /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) and a couple of gift certs from various family members who don't know what to get the Trashcan for Christmas (thanks agian to mom who passes the info down the line!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) My dad got me a 3D suit to try this year but I really like the Naturalflage. The only thing I haven't been able to find is a plain Natgear boonie, for some reason they are all heavy felt material around here. The foot wear consists of either Bates Enforcers, (LOVE the side zipper, makes on and off a snap!), with a good pair of cold weather socks. For 40 degrees and above I go with a regular pair of worn out Converse Chuck Taylors (keep your eyes open for cactus for sure!!!) with the white toe and soles charcoaled out. That's right boys!, I'm a regular huntin dandy when I go out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. This setup is also my deer/anything else hunting outfit also!

i read this somewhere, and i have tried this, put some leaves, foliage, etc, into a big box and mix your hunting clothes in there, when you take them out after a couple days, they'll smell natural. (who cares they're hunting clothes)

Rubber boots that are knee high with 600 grams thinsulate in the winter are fantastic. I don't use em in the summer or fall though.
