Coyote Drive??

Is anybody from Ohio going to the coyote drive Dec. 10 in Johnstown? Never been to one, and wondered what to expect.

If it is the normal drive:

The drive them like deer. The set up standers on the outside edges of the small tracks of timber, then drop back some drivers and push the coyotes out the end to the standers to shoot.

If there is snow, the will drive around the wood lots and find were there are tracks going in and not coming out so the know there are coyotes in there, then set up and push the wood lot.

I'm curious. Do the people who participate in this activity consider this "hunting". Or would it be proper to call it "killing"? It sounds like it could be exciting and fast paced. Do the shooters form a funnel or guantlet, or are there other devices used to direct the coyotes into the shooters? I've heard of jackrabbit drives in the old days, but they used clubs so they didn't end up shooting each other.

I called the phone number listed for more info, haven't gotten a hold of anyone but an answering machine. The recording said the 10th, and they leave from the club at 10am.

I've never been, but living in the area, they always get a lot of yotes as results get published locally. I may check them out this year.

This seems like a good way to quickly reduce the coyote population in a given area. Especially an area with problem coyotes. Is there only one drive per day, or do they do 2 or 3? What kind of numbers do they get per push?
