coyote hunting in pa

i've been hunting coyotes in pa for a few yrs now. i've taken 3, with luck and being in the right place at the right time. i want to start calling. are there any video's of calling on the east coast? all the ones i see are from the mid west.where you can see the coyotes come running in from 1/2 mile away.that doesn't seem to be the case for me. i've called in 1 and have had alot answer back. the areas i'm hunting are loaded with them, i see more coyote tracks then deer tracks now.

where in bucks co. are you? i'm from montgomery co. my buddies and i hunt yotes a fair bit, but mostly upstate. a friend of mine bowhunts in hilltown and said he saw a few yotes this past fall. as for videos of predator hunting in the east? i have yet to see anything, but i think this would be the place to ask for info on that sort of thing. SE PA definitely has more foxes than coyotes, although the yotes are starting to move in quickly.

i'm from tioga county but moved to croydon. it's just north of philly. i hunt a farm in nj and have heard them howl there twice. we go to a coyote hunt in tioga every yr. i haven't seen any around here but was hunting in solebury a few yrs ago and 1 of the guys missed one with the bow. i also have a cabin in hazelton. i see their tracks and hear them there all the time but yet to get one.

I saw an ad for an east coast Coyote video in a magazine, I believe it was in Predator extreme or something. It looked like just what you are looking for, I was considering buying it also. I will see if I can find it.

Go to kee's custom calls that is the video you want. It is called predaors hunting in the east part 1 back to basics. Look at the advertising thread he might be in there.

Calling here in PA ain't easy when it comes to coyote. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

beagler that statement is Oh, so true.. coyote calling is so hard here in Pa.. I love when the west guys say how its so easy and blah blah.. I'd love to see them come out here and try.. I bet their success drops 75%...

Hey now, I'm west of you guys and if my succss rate dropped 75 % in PA I'd have to kill 3 to get back to zero. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You can't expect to call the amount of coyotes they call in the west or southwest. You use the number 75%, that's probably close to how many more coyotes they have then you do, probably even more.....simple math.
Oh.....but of course your coyotes are bigger and smarter then the stupid western coyotes, that's something on your side right.
I never seen a western caller say they could out hunt or out call any of you on your home turf, so what are you all winning about?
You simply don't have the numbers of coyotes. Why don't you solve the problem and move out west?

Although South's video "calling in the east" is in eastern Texas, and the number of coyotes and amount of land to hunt is different, the terrain looks the same. He has close set-ups and does a nice job calling. I have found myself looking at old logging roads, pine meadows, and crab apple thickets a little closer since viewing "calling in the east" I also have Brent Saxtons video and it is very informative as well.

Beagler how many have you called in and killed this year?

None. Fox only.
Only killed one last winter by calling. Better success with hounds.

typical flatlander, come up here and shoot one by tracking, one by bait, and one by using a cass creek call.you would think you would take a dog when its given to you

you would think that wouldn't ya. but a happy home is more imporant then a coyote dog. besides i get to hold this over her hesd for the next 20 yrs......
