Coyote hunting in the woods

I call almost exclusively in heavy timber since it is a loooooong drive to "open country". Calling in close quarters is much more difficult since there is literally no warning of their approach. When you see them they will be on top of you. It can be quite exciting at times. I got the wolf in my avatar photo at 18yds coming straight in to my mouth call. The down side (which I will post here shortly) is that if you live in large predator country there is always the chance of a bad encounter. Heavy woods are where the use of an e-caller really shines for hunter safety. Have fun but be VERY aware!
 
I have 10s of thousands of acres of timber I never touch because Im never successful in the thick. I have watched video from the MFK guys though and they have great luck in the trees. I may work on it more and try to squeeze out a few more predators. I think it is prolly more difficult but definitely does work.
