Coyote hunting. Take a dog scented fabric for cover scent?

I am in the camp of preferring a light consistent breeze. It's nice to lay out a calling plan and be able to rely on the wind to be consistent.

But I also usually hunt out of the back of my truck which has probably 3798274829 smells on it..

But I still use scent kill.. what can it hurt besides my pocket... and in the winter I spray a few cotton balls with skunk who knows if it really helps..

But, if the wind is heavy I tend to get lazy and just stay home. I just stay home and not waste my gas and try to get some work done...(getting 12 mile per a gallon doesnt help)

but the only way to kill coyotes is be out there with them.. just practice and try different spots.. coyotes are not perfect.. one will screw up and give you a shot.



You hunt out of the back of the truck... and still use scent killer? I cannot see the logic of that. It's your money but an old saying about money parting from possession comes to mind...

This thread got me to thinking about what some of the subjects that top the list here as far as ability to elicit very strong opinions from the members are.....
All things scent related and .17 hmr stuff come to mind. calling coyotes dogs or not is fairly polarizing to. oops, almost forgot summertime calling.
Anyone wanna add to the list?

east versus west coyotes.

sardines or bacon?

same hole all day long at 8000 yards. if you do you part.

Depends. I think in most circles, it doesn't make any difference, at all.

But in some circles, it does.

My personal vernacular, unless the context has already made it abundantly clear, I say "dog coyote", not just "dog".

Hunting with Cal Taylor last year, using his dogs, I was glad we both used the same language. When you have dogs, and coyotes of both sexes. all in front of you at the same time, and it actually matters whether you shoot the dog or the beotch coyote first, speaking the same language definitely helps.

I dont like calling them dogs, just for the sole reason people tend to think you are a bad person... Cause you out there shooting "Dogs"... like DAA said helps to be around the right ppl
 
I am always around the right people. My wife says that I am anti-social but I disagree. I tell her that I just dont like people who are wrong minded. If you dont talk guns, motorcycles, fishing and I dont go to church with you, our conversation will probably consist of hi.
