Hello gents, going to vegas the week of 10-1 and was wondering if you guys ever hunt the area west of vegas. Will be coming from Ca and was told the area close to Whiskey Petes has public land that's huntable. Anyone ever hunt that area or know of areas close to vegas to hunt coyotes?

vmuth!! are you going to hunt nights or just days?? do you have a varmit rig or will you be walking away from your truck?? do you have 4x4?? some places are alittle tuff on 2x2s!!! there is places there that work any way you hunt but can be call shy!!! grandpa fudge

I think I'd try northwest of Las Vegas around Groom lake. The place never gets hunted, it's got to have a million coyotes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You may want to try around Nipton, Cima on the California side and around Searchlight on the Nevada side. You'd do better at night but you can't take grays or bobcats in Nevada and the season on them won't be open in Californoa when you are there, coyotes only. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm sure there is lots of public land to hunt on around state line, most of what I've seen is a place called Roach dry lake lol, but there are places to hunt, good luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Comming here to shoot my coyotes? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Just kidding. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Haven't hunted out around stateline much.have found that closer to town the better though. Damn trash can dogs. I wish you luck. Give me a ring if you need anything or maybe we could hook up if there is time. E-mail me if you need anything.

Thanks for the replies. I will be hunting probably 10-2 or 10-3 morning. I will be in a rented SUV but don't know as of yet if it's 4x4. Mr. B, the lake area that you're talking about, is it within about an hour or so of vegas? I'd like to obviousely go where my chances of success are the greatest. If you guys know stuff, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me in on it.

Thanks.

like danny-b said nipton to searchlight and past to the lake is good for night and day stands!!! also you can go west out of prim toward sandy or goodsprings!!! cima west of 15 is out of the mojave res.. will take you to sandy also!! that should be enough to keep you hunting for a few days!!!lol if you hunt all of that in a couple of days then you are hunting too fast!!! hope you do well !!! grandapa fudge
