Coyote Mating Season???

Their mate finding season occurs Mid Feb. to end of march is this correct? Or does this depend also on the weather?

As I understand it, the female coyote only comes into heat this time of year, and the male is only receptive to breeding at this time, also.

I don't think that weather should factor into it, but I might yield to one of the wildlife experts we have on the board!

Mating season is now and weather has little to do with it. Photoperiod (length of day) is what actually causes the cycle. Mating season fluctuates depending upon where the coyotes are located ie. northern climates vs southern climates.
 
Mike: Can you be a bit more specific? In other words, I am in S. Texas and would assume the breeding season would be a bit earlier. Comments? Thanks!

Hm,

Dependent upon the area, breeding season fluctuates over a 2 month period. I don't know for sure, but I would assume coyotes are done with breeding in Texas, and may still be breeding in Canada. That has to do, again, with length of day. Your days are longer now than in Canada, but daylight will be longer in Canada as summer approaches. Estrus cycles coincide with spring, longer days, and more available prey for the pups as spring/summer arrive. See the link between the two?

I think they have or are just winding down; haven't had much luck calling lately, but been under the weather and haven't been out in 10 days or so.
