Coyote optic for AR

What are you guys using? I like the looks of the Tac scopes, but thinking the single power would hamper its potential.
Budget is 300 give or take.

I personally like the 4-12 scope, and if i was trying to stay under $300, would suggest looking into a Vortex scope.

I prefer the Bullet drop type of reticle. Then I make the range card for each 100 yrd increment.

I feel that it allows me to get on fur, and with a range card i know where to hold over and fire quickly.

I'm with Tbone ont his.. i prefer 4-12 or 4-14 ish scopes on most of my guns.

my thoughts are like this - you can always run a 4-(whatever) on 4x power but you can never run a 2-7 or a fixed 4x on 12x (or 14x) magnification.

additionally i'm on the vortex line myself, i feel they're a nice balance between budget, quality and features. and with their warranty, it makes them kind of hard to beat.

Might check out the Burris Droptine. I've been pretty happy with the ones I have. Can get 4.5-14 for around $250 if you shop around.

My AR is strictly for predator hunting, and it wears a 3-9X Burris Timberline/BP reticle. Don't know how much they're selling for these days though.

Sorry guys I've been away a few days. My planned shots should be no more than 300 yards.
How often do you guys rely on the BDC reticle? I like the idea of an uncluttered sight window so I don't mind holding over a little. The bullet drop reticle isn't out of the question just wonder how often you find yourself using it?

I'm liking this one as Ive looked at it too. I'm leaning between Vortex and Burris, their warranties go a long way.

If you are only shooting 300 yards, a BDC is pretty silly. Turrets are also a waste for that distance.

You can pretty easily tune in to a 300 yard, or very close to it, MPBR with most typical coyote rounds.

Spend the money on good glass, not gimmick turrets and reticles you will never use.

Leupold VX-2 3-9X will easily fulfill your needs at the price you set.

I use the Ballistic Plex reticle often as I'm a spot and stalk guy mostly, and shots are often enough long. Very easy to apply the plex reticles for 300ish yds. though. Suppose your bullet drop is 2 moa at 300 (6"). If your plex reticle subtends (measures) 2.5 moa x-hair to plex post tip (like Leupold's Duplex reticles), then 2/2.5=0.8. So aim 80% down to the post tip and shoot.

Any difference in paying $40 for a mount v/s $80? I like both Burris and Vortex mounts as well as the RRA mounts, but found an off brand mount for half.
