Took my wife out today and set her up in her blind so she could photograph eagles. After getting her set up the youngun and I went to another place to set up a tree cam. About 10 minutes after we left this coyote and this other critter come to the pond for a drink and she snapped a few shots. Last year I was hunting this same place and my partner and I called this same dog in. It came in from behind us, caught our wind just as he appeared on our right and took off up the ridge. I remember his white tipped tail as he was running thru the trees. It shor doesnt look like a coyote to me but it thinks its one. Is this normal for coyotes and dogs to hang together like this or could it be a mix breed?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'll look at the pics on my computer, as they are too small on my cell phone. But, it looks like a coydog to me.

Awesome pic....Tony

Cool pics, for sure. Thanks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I vote coyote. Also I'll bet their litter mates[just my opinion, no proof] LOL!.

We seen many moons ago. A [Calico & a Dusky Black] Red Fox running together, from our hounds.

Had a mechanic years ago who owned a coyote/dog. It's mom went wandering and came back in a family way. I met the dog, very social and friendly, also very smart and sneaky. Coyote nose/head and build, Shepherd/mutt coloration. It does happen.

Those pictures are really awesome, I've been trying to find an actual picture of a coydog for a while and these are really fantastic. Yotehunter59, how did you adjust the picture ? Thank you.

That does look like a Heeler/Coyote mix. I have seen similar color variations where I normally hunt in West-central Illinois. Thinking you need to take that dog and feel it's fur to know for sure. If it is coarse and nappy maybe it is a coydog. I have never really believed in coydogs myself. But who knows. The goofy color variated ones I have killed or been party to killing have all had soft coyote like fur and I have always believed them to be just coyotes that look a bit different. Take him and let us know.

Yotecallr, I opened the image in Photoshop CS. Clicked on IMAGE in the menu bar>click adjustments>click levels. The object is to take the left and right sliders and move them until they start to touch the graph area on both sides. Take note of the colors of the sliders, left side is the blacks and the right side is whites. After that is done, click on image>adjustments>shadow and highlights, move your sliders till you are happy with the image. Then click image>adjustments>brightness/contrast or you can even do a auto contrast which is what I did in this case.

NOTE: Photoshop CS (P/S CS) is not the same thing as Photoshop Elements (P/S Elements) 2.0 or 3.0. CS is a professional program that has shortcuts in it. Most of the effects can be done in P/S Elements, just have to be done by different methods. P/S CS has the advantage of a shortcut called "shadow/Highlights". Remember, that no matter what you do to the original, nothing is permanent until you save the changes. Not happy with the way it turned out? Just close the image and a window will pop up asking if you want to save image, click "Dont Save". It is that easy... John /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
