Coyote pack on 10 acres just south of B’ham

A pack of coyotes attacked our chickens twice this year. Carried a 35 lb rooster and 9 hens over a five ft fence. Contact kathyc72@outlook.com if licensed and a good track record to rid us of some coyotes. Have to plan ahead and be licensed and very safe as we have neighbors. May offer prize winning Bnb overnight stay on our 10 acres with ATV trails. We are in the country south of Bham on way to Pell City.
 
We may have exaggerated just a little. This was our old but tough rooster, maybe 20 lb. Anyway, an apparent coyote pack carried off half our flock, left a few behind that were decapitated, ate one on the spot, and carried that rooster into the woods. Found him half eaten. Six months ago they got our younger but dominate rooster and about 6 hens. We plan to stop the free ranging now but our pasture had secure 5 foot fencing add last year was fine except only a hawk that got one. The chickens go into a locked secure coop at night. We have 3 dogs that don’t bother the hens and sleep in the house. But we fear putting out traps in case it would harm our dogs or other animals. The minifarm is on a small dead end road with about 8 family homes on about 10 to 40 acres each. Would really appreciate some help!
 
Not being a smart arse here, but how have you come to the conclusion it was coyotes?
You'd be surprised what fox, skunks, bobcats, opossum and do to chickens.
 
There were so many chickens taken without a trace in a short period of time and the ones left were in all corners of a very large fenced pasture. Coyotes have been seen and heard in area. Lots of acres of undisturbed woods are behind the property. No evidence of digging or holes in fencing. Possible it was other but carrying off 8 or 9 chickens and leaving several without heads but not eaten is what my research pointed to. Only one chicken was eaten in pasture and the rooster half eaten in woods.
 
Got bobcat? Buncha headless uneaten chickens doesnt sound like a yote to me. Set some trail cams up in video mode, only running at night when birds are sleepin

I don’t think you have a coyote problem…you have an owl problem. Coyotes, cats, or fox will take the whole chicken and run with it. Cameras or traps are your best option on 10ac.
 
We've had racoons do what you described. They find a way into the hen house and if the chickens start to carry on, they kill everything in sight. Coons don't usually kill like this, but when they are whipped into a frenzy they just kill. They don't eat, only kill when this happens.
We lost nine one night, six another and the neighbor lost twenty or so. I was never able to trap or kill them, only got them on trail cam.
