In my area. The local pairs tend to stay in a small focal area. Of 3-5 sq. miles. Also not the norm, is their den holes, face any direction. Not predominately, on the South slope.
Another note; The local Reds[few left anymore], tend to den on the high side of a road ditch fenceline. I suspect they don't want to get caught out in the middle of a section by the coyotes.
Years ago, the Reds denned around the 1/2 mile marker mostly in a 1-sq. mile section. Very rare anymore.
