coyote rig...DPMS or RRA?

I am thinking about getting the DPMS Bull 20 with fluted barrel, probably the JP adjustable trigger, and other accessories. Or I have heard good things about RRA rifles and their 2-stage match trigger. I am leaning more toward the Bull 20 because I live 15 minutes away from DPMS and I could get it serviced easily. Unless i did the DPMS upper and RRA lower...suggestions please!

That was my thought, too. Check and see if you don't save some tax fees by not buying a complete firearm, too. I seem to remember that.

Yeah I think remember seeing in the DPMS catalog that I could save on 11% tax but then I heard from a friend it was more like 20% so I would definitely do that either way. I guess I'm just debating all DPMS, all RRA, or mixing them somehow.

Well, that RRA 2-stage trigger is right around $120, and the stock one is pretty much junk. I guess you could buy the DPMS and send the trigger group to Bill Springfield for a trigger job and be in pretty good shape.

Chances are you're never going to need warranty work on a lower, though. That's pretty rare.

I guess my biggest concern would be how accurate the barrels are.

thats a tuff 1. i have both and am happy with them. i will say that the rockriver trigger is a definate plus but your proximity to dpms may sway you in that direction.i have an older dpms extreme superbull that is a great shooter but i need a wheelbarrow to haul it out to the field.

I love my RRA.........not sure how your state does it but we can buy them over the internet with no taxes. I bought mine from Class 3 weapons and they customized it for me in house and it took less than a week to get here.

If it comes down to just the triggers, I have both the rra 2 stage and a jp 3#, and the jp wins. But you could put that in either one. Get the one you like and you'll be happy, they're both great rifles.

I have both too and I'm not sure I have a favorite at this point. Blond vs brunette I guess -- what's not to like? The RRA NM 2 stage is excellent, as is the JP. Having either eliminates the trigger as the problem, so to speak.

Yep, I agree, both are great. But I like the single stage and the jp is a little lighter than the rra. But the rra is a little crisper in the 2nd stage. But both are more than livable. I just know that when I'm out pdoggin', the jp is the one I'm looking for first. YMMV.

Great, well the upgraded trigger would just be an accessory. I'm more worried about the rifles. I like the RRA in general but with DPMS so close to my house I might just go with them. I like the 4-rail gas block DPMS offers so i could put a light and other things on it without needing to cough up more money for 4-railed free float tube. I like their standard aluminum one or I might opt to get the carbon fiber to keep it light and I think it would be cool. I'm also thinking about a tactical grip with the palm shelf that DPMS offers or RRA has the Ergo grip tactical too. Any preferences on either of those grips anyone?

I have a DPMS Panther Bull 20 .223 AR. Mine has the JP Enterprises Adjustable Trigger, Speed Hammer and Springs in it (as does my Bushmaster 16" M4 ORC also).

I only have about 120 rounds through my DPMS Panther Bull 20 so far and the last range outting was netting me 5 shot 100 yard groups from the bench between 1/2" to 3/4".

Prior to this a couple years ago I had a DPMS Panther Bull 20 Flutes .223 AR. It would print 1/4" 5 shot groups from the bench at 100 yards quite regularly. My DPMS Panther Bull 20 Fluted had the factory trigger that was smoothed out by Mike at Dedicated Technologies.

Granted I have had limited experience with DPMS but both experiences have been quite favorable.

I have a buddy that has a DPMS Sportical 16" .223 AR. We swapped out the Plastic Handguards for an Aluminum Free Float Tube, did a trigger job on it went to shooting it. My buddy is getting 1" to 1 1/4" 5 shot groups at 150 yards with his Sportical.

Thanks Larry, I probably end up getting the Bull 20 with flutes. I know several others with them that are really accurate. I was thinking of a semi-long barrel like 20" as opposed to 16" or 24" for better accuracy and to save on weight...would something like the Sweet 16 with a bull barrel and flutes be just as good or should I just get the 20"?

I have an AR with a 4 rail gas block on it and I'm going to change that out to either a singe rail or a basic FSB.

It just doesn't make sense to me to free float the barrel and then hang stuff on the gas block. If I want a light its going on the handguard.

Oh yeah, I've heard that before and forgot about it. Duh, the extra weight hanging on it would just ruin the point of free float. Thanks for reminding me!!!
