Since I started hunting canine predators in the early 60's. I have seen where coyotes had it out with 2 separate raccoons. During a warm spell mid winter. Twice 2 coyotes had caught a lone coon out on the open hills. On the snow I could see where the 3 of them battled on 2 different days. Both coon were not eaten. But the coons were chomped & crushed flat. Then left the coon where it died. It appeared those coon had every bone in their bodies broken. Because they were chomped & crushed flat. Like a steam roller rolled over them.
1x during a bitter cold January. A lone coyote crawled into a small roadway culvert tube & pulled 1 coon out. That fight occurred right at the culvert entrance. That coyote de-gloved the coon & ate quite a bit of it.
On another hunt. I watched a lone coyote. Seen a sleeping pair of red fox. From the distance of about 1 city block. The fox were sleeping & did not see that coyote. The coyote stopped & eye balled the 2 fox. For about 1 minute. Then the coyote angled away from the sleeping fox & moved on.
