Coyotes and camouflage

So I have a question about coyotes and their ability to pick people out, after doing some research, I have found some pretty conflicting information as to how important it is to wear camo that is similar to your surroundings.

Some hunters seem to have 300 different sets of camouflage. Desert patterns, snow, early spring, fall, camo for getting into/out of your truck etc etc. (last one was a joke). And then you see guys on youtube in T-shirts and shorts out in the woods gunning down coyotes.

So my question is, are all the patterns necessary? Is it going to be a big deal if I go out hunting in a gray/black ski coat if I sit in a group of trees or in a weed patch? my only real camo is a light jacket with late fall camo patterns. It is my bow hunting camo and its not meant for late weather temperature. So what input do you guys/gals have to offer?

I have good luck wearing whatever I have on, my work clothes. I have videos of coyotes up close with me wearing a red tshirt sitting in the wide open against an old cedar fence post. On top of that I have a big linebacker looking guy sitting right next to me.

I think camo is good, but sitting still is better.

You don't need 800 kinds of camo at all, its good for blending in but as already stated above being still is most important when they have an eye on you.

Camo has been covered extensively here over the years.
The two most important giveaways are movement and odor. So sit still and watch the downwind.
To me camo resembling the environment reduces detection of movement and breaks up my outline. I also prefer a face net and gloves.

Camo is a fashion. Any type of subdued and similarly colored attire will do the same thing. However, most gear that is designed for hunting, is camo...so it gets worn by for funtion over form.

I would add UV reflection to the movement and scent.. New laundry detergent has UV brighteners.. For things that can or may be able to see UV that means you are glowing to them..

Its tough to beat a nice pair of Duct carhearts or military surplus.

In my experience, sitting still is way more important than what you are wearing.

Ask yourself why does a camo pattern make a difference to a coyote that is only 2 feet tall (at best) and moving toward you in grass that is up to it's shoulders.. How good of a view do you think they really have of you?

I had a video a few years ago that i lost of a friend and I shooting a coyote wearing a Santa suit and sitting infront of the truck. yes it was a one time thing..

But the point is that just wearing something that is close to the same and just flat colored is just fine. Spend your money on the long list of other things other Predator hunters buy.

I found the camo you see in my avitar on sale and it was less than a pair of carhearts.. I also just bought a larger size long sleeve t shirt and pull that $12 shirt over my nice warm jacket. Problem solved.

I like a ghillie from Rancho Safari. Made in the U.S.

Lightweight comfortable. I use desert fall colour with a hood, even in the snow. No burlap or jute, only camo cotton strips sewn onto a net shell. Wears like a long coat, actually called a long coat. Full zipper and slashes on the side to access your pockets underneath. Toss it in the washer when it gets soaked with blood.

I've had coyotes within arm's length from the downwind side while I was wearing my ghillie. A friend had a magpie land on his boot while he was wearing his ghillie. They flat out work and are comfortable enough that I put mine on for the first stand of the day and take it off after the last stand 8-10 hours later, and that includes driving my truck with it on.

Light enough for early bow season over a T shirt, and big enough to go over my insulated Carhart bibs and parka.

I like to use a homemade ghillie jacket in snow camo. I often call while lying in the middle of a field and as long as movement is kept to a minimal i have no problem calling in dogs.
Like others say movement is the most important but with good camo you can get away with a bit more. Camo does not need to be name brand to work. My setup cost roughly 50 bucks and that includes pants, jacket, gloves and facemask.

And that is the point of good camo. It doesn't make you disappear. It simply tells the target's brain "There's nothing to be concerned about here, move along." but hopefully another hunter can recognize you for the killing machine you are.

and with the right camo, you can sneak right up on them.

My thinking as others have said. I were the camo because it is what I use for other hunting interest. I have camo for everything from early season to late late season bow hunting and use that for my predator hunting. And will layer up when I need to. I would also say that if you use a lighter camo pattern then you will be able to get by with more than a dark pattern. Plus look at something that isn't very noisy to wear when it gets cold out. I had a buddy that wore his duck hunting gear one time when we were calling and he sounded like I was dragging a garbage bag full Styrofoam. We made one stand and then called it a day. You never can have too much camo.

It's a must too spend as much as you possibly can on camouflage. The more it costs the better it works.

Here's my fancy snow camo that I bought at the hardware store for 5 bucks. It's white, it's water proof, and it works. Lol.
