Coyotes are nasty animals...

Missing out on a treat? No thanks. They are a pretty good adversary when it comes to calling and hunting and the funnest animal I have ever persued, with the exception of blackbears with hounds. But to make a vermin a game animal with all the fees, rules and regulations involved just doesn't seem right. And seasons and stuff just isn't my cup of tea for sure. I like ol Mr. Coyote and have been calling him for more years than most guys here are old but I sure don't want to eat one or think they should be classed as a game animal by any means. I like hunting them anytime I get the urge to go afield and persue them. They are the only animal I do hunt anymore.....Walt

Coyotes are nasty animals... according to the host of a T.V. hunting show I stumbled across this evening. Darned if I can remember which show this was, it was on one of Dish T.V.'s line-up of outdoor programming. The host was bowhunting whitetails somewhere in the midwest. At one point in the show there was a cut of the host with another dude, they told of hearing a lot of coyotes howling the night before and in the morning they went into the area the coyotes had been in to see what they could find. They told of how gruesome the next shot would be and then bent down to a deer carcass on the ground. It was a partially eaten buck. The host said, "Coyotes are just nasty animals and you should shoot every one of them everytime you get a chance to." They didn't mention how they knew the deer was actually killed by the coyotes. No thought given to the fact that it was hunting season and the buck could have been unrecovered game, or, a wounded deer that managed to get away. Or even a deer struck by a vehicle that crippled away from the road and the coyotes capatilized on the find. Nope, coyotes are nasty animals and should be shot on sight. I don't get it. IMHO, it's a aprt of nature and it is coyotes just being coyotes. That doesn't make them anything but a coyote. Certainly not nasty animals. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Long live the coyote. He will be around after the humans are all gone. Their will to live is next to none. He has provided me with many years of exciting outings. You have to admire him.

You and me both my friend /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif. When everyone else around here is thinking deer and elk, I'm still wrapped up in coyotes in the brain /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. Walt, your post got me to thinking about when I crossed the line. I'm not sure when it was, but I would guess about 5 or 6 years ago. Sometimes I get to thinking I should get up early and go grouse hunting, so I get up early and what do I leave the house with? You guessed it, my 223 and calls /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. It got really bad when I started hanging around here. I guess maybe I could blame this "problem" on the guys on PM /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif.

One of my Bro's, worked up in Rochester MN. Breaktime, with a bunch of "non-animal killers".

He said, "I hunt coyote". One woman said, "How can you kill those pretty things?"

Bro- "Better, coyotes...than people, huh"

Conversation ended.

evil people...not coyotes.
