Coyotes, Carlsbad New Mexico

South side, I used a bit of everything. You know maybe I was out there a few mins more than I thought. I had tried a song dog which I haven't quite figured out and a Haydels which I think is too high a pitch and a cheap tally ho which didn't even work and is brand new I also tried an Arizona Game calls which sounded like a goose honking everytime you stop blowing and is also brand new. In the end I used my old standby which is a Johnny Stewart variable coaxer.

Also, it doesn't hurt to know how to use your own lips to bring them into easy range. I like my bullets to smack them at near max velocity without the max loading.

The area recommended by some locals appeared very promising. When I got there I immediatelty found tracks and scat near where I had parked. I went Sat eve. and Sun. evening with no luck. As i left on Sat I heard one calling nearby but it was already dark. And today I heard one in the distance but never got a response. The area looks very promising though and i'll be back asap as there is alot of land yet to be explored.

I just came across this forum and just thought I would tell you I ride my horses a lot at the end of Hidalgo out by city wells and I see a lot of coyotes out there.Also there are a few fox and I even see bobcat out that way.

Not about Carlsbad, but what type of license does an out of stater need to hunt yotes in NM? Just for a couple days around Albuquerque.

You can have either. For non game nonresidents can use any legal hunting license. But you should research for yourself so you can verify for yourself.
