Well I know you guys always have a good answer to just about everything, so what the heck do you do to get rid of a crick in your neck? you know what im talking about, I woke this morning feeling fine but as soon as I turn my head to the left or the right I get a bad pain in the left side of my neck.

Antidote?

I am glad to be a part of a group that has all the answers to just about everything /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif, I just can't convince my wife of that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif. Oh well. Now for the "crick" in your neck, have someone give you a good massage on your neck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Sorry I feel for you, unfortunately the only thing that cured mine was time. That's is what solved mine and a good shoulder/neck massage, I tried Motrin had little to effect. about 3-5 days and I could turn my head like an owl again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif.

This happens to me a lot, since I have lower back issues.

What I do, if my neck not only hurts but also feels stiff...is place an ice pack on it for at least 30 minutes. It will loosen the muscles/reduce any "swelling" that may be there. You should then be able to "pop" your neck.

It sounds like your neck was at an angle while you slept; or the bones are slightly out of place, possibly due to the same thing happening in the lower back; or you have some nerves pinched.

This idea, or something similar, should be an easy & cheap remedy. Unless you really enjoy going to the chiropractor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Even after you feel your neck "pop", it still may hurt for a few hours, until the muscles relax fully.

I'm no doctor. This is just what works for me. Been living with back issues for 25 years, & I hate to go to the bone-cracker. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Good luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Yeah, I've gotten rid of a couple myself that way also! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The ice trick seems to work, but like Vaportrail said time is the real healer. This kind of pain is really nasty and one of the things I found that helps is Absorbine veterinary liniment. You can get it an almost any place that handles horse stuff. It soaks in deep and unlike regular Absorbine does not burn.

I had an old friend that was a chiropractor and he used it on me and hundreds of patients over a 40 year career. Oh it works good on horses too.

Heating pad.

Heat is a bad deal on new "injuries" as this might be. Always heat old injuries, and ice the new ones. You want to shrink swelling on the new injuries, and increase blood flow on old injuries. Heat might feel good at first but it will cause the nerves to get alittle wild, and later on tighten the already tight muscles.

I have no PHD but I have had to deal with lower back pain for the last 15 years or so. Cricks, hitches, twinges, are and have been a way of life, I have gotten pretty good dealing with it!

Furhunter, i would look into getting a tinge unit. it is what i used to use after wrestling matches for sore muscles. what it is, is a shocking device that sends an elictric shock through the muscle that you have it on. it did the trick for my neck.

chiropractor!! If you really do have something out of place, cold pack and heat aren't really fixing the problem! I am a regular at my chiropractors office. Often times my back gets so far out of whack that I can't hardly put my shoes on, then I can't hardly stand to sit in a vehicle and then I almost have to fall out of the vehicle when I get to the office. BUT after a little electricity, some heat, and several cracks and pops, in 24 hours, I'm as good as new!

Car wrecks, motorcycle crashes, surfing wipeouts, and some rock climbing falls have made me a believer in chiropractors, too. That's where I learned about deep-tissue massage. Not everyone can do DTM correctly, but if you find someone who can they are worth their weight in gold. It takes serious hand/finger strength. Don't waste your money on a female DTM therapist, they just don't have the strength to do it right.
