Cricket 22 Mag?

Hello,

This is my first post here and would like to say hello to every one.
I have been reading that 22 mags are used for Coyote hunting and was wondering if my Cricket 22 Mag would work as well? a scope can be mounted on it, but I am not sure what would work on it due to the size.
I would like to hear others opinions on this rifle for Coyote hunting.

Thanks

Welcome to PredatorMasters Trapperreynolds.

A rimfire can kill just about anything, there was even a grizzly killed with a 22lr by an Eskimo women years ago. It's NOT advised though, you would get a lot of wounded runners.

Stick to centerfire or shotgun for clean kills.

17 HMR square in the chest = a yote that acts like it got stung by a bee and runs off never to be found.

Get a cheap single shot .223 or .22-250 and kill them cleanly. My rossi was only $180 with a scope and it shoots good enough to hit a yote sized target everytime at 150 yards.

Thanks for the comments. The local gun shop owner made me a deal on the Cricket once he found out it was a mag. I use in on my trap line.
After reading the comments I will keep it for that only.
I did get a FOXPRO3 and would like to get into calling Yotes in. I am sure that my 870 Super Mag will do if I can get them close.

You can get the new Winchester .22 mag ammo for about $6 a box around here. Its pretty dirty but functions and performs just fine. Still more expensive than a brick of .22lr but that'll cost you $18 bucks now. I remember being able to buy a brick for $8 and that wasnt that long ago.

It might just be my dealer that has them that low. Walmart they are $8 which still isnt bad. Now if they would just lower my .17hmr ammo we would be good to go.

I have a Cricket Bull Barrel Thumbhole stock, but only in the long rifle version. I had a smith extend the stock (or rather the butt pad) to fit an adult.

It's plenty accurate, but I doubt I'd truly hunt anything over a woodchuck with it. Fun to plink with, and fits in the car nicely in case I feel like taking it out after cornfield panthers.
