Just wondering if anyone has used/is using a crossbow for yotes.

If so please share some of the details of your successes (how close, setup, etc.)

Thanks!

You know what is funny, in this great old state of utah, coyotes are not protected and can be hunted year round with out a license, the only way you cant kill them is by the means of, poison, explosives, or crossbows, cant quite understand it!

Satch-
Hadn't thought about explosives -kinda takes the fun out of it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Could be because they're pretty sly? Unless you've got some kind of remote detonator you gotta be pretty close.

the only thing in oregon that you need is a license,

no bag limit, no nothing, except, like Satch said, no poison, no explosives, no cross bow,

oh and no night hunting

Simon in oregon you can hunt with a crossbow for non-game animals like coyotes and rabbits.
and you can night hunt predators on private land.

I used to have a crossbow but sold it I always thought it would have worked great on urban coyotes.

I know this has very little relivance to this thread but I watched Road Warrior (One of the top 5 movies ever made BTW!) last night and Wes (the bad azz mowhawk dude) zaps a running rabbit AND Max's dog with an arm mounted crossbow /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Made me think of this thread.

non-protected wildlife in Utah and may be. taken by hunters at any time with any weapon.

I've always wanted to try cross bow hunting, but the New South Wales government in all its wisdom has made them completely illegal, which I'm sure makes tons of sense considering you can cross the border and pick them up at a fuel station as I saw in another state once.

I fail to see how the use of explosives could take the fun out of anything!?
