Crow Calls for Coyote

Anyone use crow calls for coyotes? The reason I ask is that this year during the WI gun season, my cousin and his boy were out deer hunting during rifle season. Both were sitting in a box blind in a thick creek bottom. Shortly after getting there, a 6 point buck came buy, and my cousin's boy shot it. He made a good shot, and the deer went about 50 yards before expiring. Since they had just gotten there, my cousin wanted to hunt for a little longer while before going out and dressing the deer. About 30 minutes after shooting the deer, crows started landing in the trees above the deer..the more crows started landing the more noise they were making...about 30 minutes after the crows showed up and making a racket, my cousin sees a coyote starting to sneak towards the deer carcass. Since we can now shoot coyotes during gun season in WI, he was going to shoot it...but just then another hunter came by with a four wheeler and the coyote spooked....

long story short...it seemed like those crows and all the noisse they were making called that coyote in...anyone else ever seen anything like this, or used crow calls as part of thier calling session?

Had one come in 6 or 7 years ago when a couple of friends and I were calling crows in season. It is kind of what started me on the path to trying to call coyotes. We were sitting a little opening along side of an open field calling and wouldn't you know it I go this feeling like we were being watched and we were I turned around looked up wind and one was standing 20 yards behind us. Never got a shot off but it was a rush none the less.

Sometimes, about all I can call in with distress sounds is ravens. They will make a.pass thru.then swing back around and come investigate. Even howls and pup distress works for ravens as wedont have an over abundance of food around here. Right now, with close to 3' of snow on the ground.
I think if you had an electronic call with different crow sounds on it, including mob it would give a yot more incentive to " get it while its hot "

I've tried crow after distress hoping to get something. Hasn't worked for me yet, but you never know when it will.

The very first time I called in a coyote there where so many crows hovering above I could even think!! I was using an old handheld jack rabbit call. The coyote came in charging and I missed and it just stood there for a second or 2 before taking off. I swear the crows were so loud it didn't know where to run!!!

thanks for the responses...next time calling I'm going to throw the crows on for at least 10 mins before leaving the stand...see if anything happens...I will report back.

I never used crow sounds to try and actually bring the coyotes in. But have often used them sometimes during (distress) calling sequences, as more of a "confidence" call.

I have killed two coyotes with the shotgun while calling crows. The first was a very old female coyote with nearly no teeth left. It was in March and she had other wounds from fighting with other coyotes I believe, I think the other coyotes in area thought she was no longer fit to breed.
The other was a pup in July. Both times I was playing crow fight.

Mark Zepp made a call for a short period (too short) of time. It was called the crow n' coyote or something to that effect.
I never did get my hands on one but always wanted to.
