I have only killed Coyotes under crows one time. Most times they come in take a look and keep on going.
Magpies don't always follow a Coyote in.
I have killed plenty of Coyotes that didn't have a Magpie tagging along. I have also had plenty of Magpies show up without a Coyote tag along also. But if I do see a Magpie I start watching for a Coyote coming from the same direction that the Magpie flew in from.
One thing you mentioned was that you were using Bino's.
In my opinion if you were using them early into your calling session you are most likely giving yourself away. By using them you are showing to much movement to attract attention to yourself. If you must use them wait until you are just about finished calling before you start looking.
I only call for 15 min. But I have found that 9 times out of 10 you will get a hard charging Coyote in the first 7 min after that you will get a stalker, one that is interested but is going to check things out first.
