Some gunsmiths prefer not working on post-cryogenic parts e.g. barrels and actions as the treated steel is much harder on reamers, other cutting tools....

One barrel company I know of (but won't name) will not honor a poor shooting barrel if it has been cryogenically treated after they have rifled it, or after a gun smith has chambered it (and even if the gunsmith lobbies the barrel maker to replace it).

A lot of benchresters like it...but they are a strange lot.

Cryo only works on barrels that aren't stress relieved. If you buy a pre contoured barrel it's been relieved, so cryoing won't do crap for you. If you are looking into a life extending process for barrels please follow the links below.

I have had a few barrels done and the Melonite is the way to go. It added near 250fps with the same load, cleans easier and add at least 100% to a barrels life. Adam

And BR people know this is snake oil.

I read the NRA cryo test, i beleive one gun went to
300 Below the other went to another treament company, both of the barrels on those guns were spent, that report was a waste of time and money end results were inconclusive.
I talked with 300Below some time ago about $$$ they do a lot of the highend barrels for the black gun maker Bushmaster. Maybe i need to go to the benchrest site for info. Thanks for the help Liking this www. site!!!
