Custom 22 hornet

Thinking on putting together a 22 Hornet. CZ action, Browning A bolt action or Anschutz action. Lilja barrel 15 twist, threaded and Suppressed. Need a suburban coyote rifle!! Thoughts?

Go for it!! But I would make it a K-Hornet. A little more zip and a lot easier on brass. Hurry to, I want to see how it turns out. I have a Ruger 77/22 Hornet that was K'ed. Shoots good but a custom will be cool!!

I agree. Either a K-Hornet or a .17 Hornet would be preferable to the standard .22 Hornet in my book.

Or, split the difference and go 20 Hornet with a conventional shoulder. Necked up 17 Hornady Hornet brass would be fairly easy.

But, I'm a fan of most any custom or semi custom build so a 22 Hornet would be cool too.

I just got my Browning Abolt hornet sighted in last week. Had the barrel shortened to 16 inches and threaded. With a can it sounds like a 22lr and is a joy to shoot. Still on the fence as to whether to K it. Good luck, Dave

Iowa1, I didn't have to go that short but didn't want an overly long barrel with a 7" suppressor on it taking away its nimble handling. Considering that the Hornet is a relatively short range cartridge I felt that a short barrel wouldn't cause any problems. Oh yeah 1/2×28 tpi. Dave

RustyCJ8, Thanks! I was planning on putting a Lilja barrel on which ever action I go with because I figured the light sporter barrels were too small an O.D. to thread. I've read that the Browning A Bolt 22 hornet is very accurate. Is yours ?

It's very accurate. I actually bought it with the thought of building a. 17 Ackley. I went against advise and shot it before sending it off. It shot so well that I ended up buying a bunch of the Hornady 46 grain ammo and I may never get around to converting it. Am saving to put a thermal scope on it for nighttime hunting. Dave
