custom wood rifle stocks?

who makes a varmint style walnut stock.

good wood and drop in ready for under 500$

no laminate, piller bedded and finished. i'd like it to be really pretty wood. its for a rem 700 with rems varmint contour barrel.

Pretty wood cost, really pretty wood really cost. How much pretty are you wanting?

I can only suggest someone like Weinig, but then they will sell you an inletted stock, you do the rest. Or they will do it, but I doubt you get it for $500

Perhaps check out Accurate Innovations. I have one of their stocks on a Rem 700, and it has everything you listed, and it is a super piece of wood.

Although, $500 may be a bit slim on good wood.

I'm with ya though, hard to beat pretty wood on a gun.

I just checked out one sight. Do a yahoo search on russo custom stocks. They look and sound good. I am checking into these right now.

I have one of the Richard Microfit (rifle-stocks.com) "Tackdriver" stocks. They come unfinished and quite rough. If you don't mind the work of finishing a stock they offer quite a bit of models and customization prior to delivery and have reasonable prices. I'm very happy with how mine turned out after some elbow grease but they're not for everybody.

I have been contacting joel russo. He sent me some photos of wood that are in the 200 - 500 price range. He charges around 200 - 250 for labor and then the cost of wood on top of that. His stocks look like artwork. They come in styles like mcmillan. Check out his site. I think its russoriflestocks.com. I could be wrong, but they are beautiful.
