Goining to buy CZ m1 527. Synthetic is cheaper than wood by about $90. Any body have any experience with the CZ synthetic stocks? say as compared to Rem. SPS Stocks? Any body know if the bottom metal/clip on an M1 is interchangeable with the longer American bottom metal (are the stocks inletted the same)
Was thinking of possibly painting the syn. as it is a cheaper way to go than the CZ Predator M1. Finally does any body know if the bottom metal/clip slot on a M1 will take diff. caliber clip....say for example rebarreling the 223 M1 to a 17fb and using a 221fb clip.

Thanks for any and all input

SoTex,,,, CZ has two different sizes of magazine/bottom metal's.
The 222, 221, 22H all use the same parts.
Likewise the 223, 204, 17Rem.
The two magazines are not interchangeable, but all of the stocks have the same in-letting so it's possible to replace the 222 sized bottom metal with the larger 223 sized and vice verse.
I've never handled the M1 but CZ's web site says they will also accept the five round magazine.
As far as feeding goes, lots of guys over on Saubier have rebarreled or rechambered the larger calibers to smaller versions (204 to 20VT or 17Rem to 17FB are common rechamberings) and it seems to be about a 50/50 split that say the smaller cartridges will feed from the larger magazines.

Another caveat is that even though 223, 204, and 17Rem have the same sized magazines, the feed rails are different lengths for each caliber.
Every rifle/magazine/caliber seems to perform differently when swapping calibers. Throw in the difference in feed rails and bullet design and it's pretty much a crap shoot.

Worst scenario is you rechamber a 223 to 221FB and it doesn't feed so ya end up buying new bottom metal and magazine.

IMO, the best thing to do if ya want a 221 is to buy one and have the magazine shortened by RVB.
That's what I did, then later on I rebarreled to 17FB. It feeds both perfectly.
