Just got one in today and it looks and feels good. 1/9 twist should work with the 30's. My old 700bdl doesn't like the 30 berger but works well with the 20's and 25's Hornady and rem. I've been relying on a stock of the old rem 25hp that midway sold in bulk till rem quit making them.
Gonna try the 30 berger and 25 v-max in this one, Any other suggestions?
Want something that will hold together for coyotes. Probably not the 25 v-max but may try it if it shoots well.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I have one of the first ones made and it is a shooter. Don't shoot the Bergers as they are too pricey for me. I use the 30gr Gold's, 30gr Hammetts, and 30gr Nagel's. Have some of the 25gr V-Max's but have not got to shoot them yet. They should be much better than the 25gr HP's. My .17's like IMR 4064.

Thanks for the info. Where do you get the 30 golds and Nagel's?
I've used 4320,h414,4895,w760,AA2520,h380 and blc2. All these powders shoot good groups in my bdl. 4320 gave the best combo for vel. Will try varget and 4064 in this one.

Spur, let me know how your testing goes as I haven't started reloading for mine yet. With only one trip to the range so far I am in love!

The 30gr Nagel is a flat base bullet, improved version of the old 30gr Starke. Great bullet! I would try the 30gr Hammett first and then the Gold. Hammett bullet has a little tougher jacket for yotes. However, the Gold is a killer.

30gr Gold: (330-897-0614) Todd Kindler
30gr Hammett: 318-728-2019
30gr Nagel: 208-267-2860

Tell'em some guy on the internet named SteveM sent you! LOL!!

I get best vel and accuracy with IMR 4064. Only use Varget with 20gr V-Max's for PD's! Also, recommend using the Rem. 7 1/2 primer

SteveM,

Thankyou very much Steve, That's what I was looking for. I will try the Hammett and the Gold. And 4064. The 25 v-max should have a good bc, just needs to be tried on coyotes to see if its tough enough.
I'll tell'm who sent me.

DAA on here has used the new 25-Vax in his Mach IV but don't remember if he shot any yotes with it or not. You might start a post and see if he will answer it.

As far as price goes, any of the custom .17's are higher than normal but as best I remember the Golds were higher than the others. You should be able to get a quote from Todd at the number above. They may have come down if volume sales have picked up for him. Tried to get Sierra to make a 30gr Blitz-King but they have declined so far. Not enough interest so they say! We need to get them about a 100 or so e-mails a day asking about this bullet. It would be much cheaper than all of the others, am sure.

I use the 25 gr Bergers and the 25gr Hornady HP's. The Bergers shoot slightly better, but the coyotes don't know the difference.

For powders, I like Varget, H4895, and RL-15.

I hear good things about the 30 Golds too.
