Folks i hope i am not wereing u guys out today on questions regarding the D760 NV but it looks like that is what i am going to buy. plus the FLIR 32 for scanning.

question. i have a bushmaster 16 inch barrel flat top 223 CAL. going to use the larue-100 scope mount with the D760 NV , and a illumator ( but not in WI, CANNOT USE IT ).

I just have the standard gun , flat top , WITH FLOATING FOREARM TUBE AND THE AJUSTABLE STOCK...... Do i need to up grade too a 7 inch 4 side rail to get enough eye relief for the D760 NV SCOPE ? I guess i would need the 4 rail forarm to attach the illumator too ANYWAY when i can use it. the 4 rail foremarm to attach assiories is 150.00. my current free floating tube does not have any holes to mount the illumator too.
do u think it would be cheaper to have gun smith drill a couple of holes in tube on my gun and just install a 1 inch mount to side of tube and then attach illumator to that ?

i am really worried about eye relief on the D760 scope with just he standard rail on the gun. thanks. marty

You won't need any more rail space for the 760 then what's on the reciever. You will however benefit from side rail space for ir lights and or lasers. These can be easily installed yourself with simple tools.

Why can't you use ir light in WI? But you can use nv?

will i am not sure. the ILL light ( i have never seen one ) does it shoot a beam ? if it shoots a beam it sounds like i cannot use it in WI ? marty

You can use an IR illuminator in WI since the light beam is not visible light. Per interpretation from WI authorities. Kevin

If you want a super bad [beeep] IR light that cannot be beat for the money, look into the stream light super tac IR. they run around $90 and absolutely cannot be beat for the price. I have no problems illuminating steel targets at 900yds with mine. It is very strong tight beam with a decent amount of side wash light for peripheral view as well. I run a butler cap on mine with a small hole drilled in it for up close work to diffuse the light.

That looks like a bunch of cheap Chinese junk to me. I also see nothing for IR lights or IR lasers so I'm not sure how that helps?

The OP questioned price on a 4 rail forearm also. That is found there at substantially reduced prices, and that's how it helps. If you want to spend $150 for $20 worth of machined billet aluminum, then go for it. There's only so much machining you can do to a piece of aluminum to make it functional, the other $130 you spend is simply lining someone else's pocket. If these guys can sell them for $20, the costs aren't there to warrant $150. Furthermore, the 4 rail forearm I purchased from Omega Tactical was a precision machined piece, absolutely nothing wrong it, and it was manufactured in the USA according to the stamp on the box. Of course they do know how to write English in China to, and $150 price tags on imported $20 parts makes payments on someone's beamer a whole lot quicker. Your call dude, personally I chose to buy ammo with my $130, if you want to make payments on someone else's beamer, knock yourself out! I could give a [beeep] less!!

That's fine with me as well. I do prefer to get what I pay for and that gear may or may not work. I presume since the op is dropping $4000 on a piece of night vision gear he would not want to clamp it on to a $20 piece of [beeep]. You may see it different.

Yeah, I guess you're right, if he's mounting a $4000 illuminator on a forestock, he's probably going to want an expensive one isn't he! I'll go lay buy my dish now and quiver while you sit in front of your monitor and flex your Internet muscle.

The op mentioned he was concerned with eye relief and if indeed he needed to clamp onto part of the rail forward of the receiver to achieve this I would not want a cheap rail system up front that may or may not be in-spec. If it is not and he clamps onto half of each there can be potential problems. I'm not selling anything or flexing any thing, just simply stating a fact. When you are spending that kind of money I surely wouldn't think the cost of a reputable fore end is gonna break you.
