Dan Wesson Patriot 10mm

Does anybody own one of these? I'm interested in a commander length 1911 style 10mm. From what I've seen this seems to be a pretty nice gun. I've considered building one using a Caspian frame, slide, etc. and a Bar-sto barrel, but the cost seems a little prohibitive. So I thought I'd just pick one of these up and be done with it.

I'd think twice - the 10mm is one hot load. the colt deltas had the habit of cracking the frames because they couldn't handle it. I would tend to believe the wesson would have the same problem. The only 10's I know of that worked well were the glocks and the smiths. You can probably pick up a smith 1006 or 1076 for the 300 range.

I think if you do a search you will find a thread from a while back where the DW Patriot was discussed, including 10mm. Todd

You mean like these? IMHO, DW is the best value in production 1911s anywhere. Since CZ bought them their QC should only get better. I'm hearing that the prices either have or will go up about $100 - $150 on the PTC Bob (the new name is the Commander Classic Bobtail).

Don't worry about the 10MM. It's a very safe and effective round. Factory rounds will not damage your frame and you can load some really sepcial loads as well. If a Glock 20 can take it a SS 1911 certainly can. Check out www.10mmtalk.com for more info in the 40 short and wimpy's big brother.

Mine is one of the first 150 made.

Thanks all for the advice. I'm pretty impressed with the DW, especially the bob tail. Hopefully I'll be able to bring one home soon.
