DBAL D2 from TNVC

Sometimes when you call you dont have enough time or they are too close to scope. And also less movement with hands, head, gun. And looking through the pvs 14 and shooting with the laser or ir laser its like watching a tv show and get a good view of the takedown...

Buyer Beware - DBAL D2 cannot take a shotgun recoil. It has broken on me twice. It took me about 40 rounds of 3.5 dead coyote T shot and number 4's for it to break. After shooting it multiple times and you focuse the lens it pops out inside and makes a rattle noise. The inside illuniator lens comes loose and then distorts the illuminator so it does not focus or line up properly with the IR pointer.

Laser Devices Customer Service was ok on the first repair (about 3 weeks total with shipping at my cost -Should have sent me a brand new unit) but refused to tell me how they fixed the unit, or if they replaced it. What I did learn from them is they did not field test it on a shotgun and are thinking about conducting tests with simulator recoil machine. Also, that means the new upcoming spir will also have problems if you plan on using it on a shotgun.

On the second repair issue, Laser devices refused to respond to any emails, return calls, extend any warranty on the device nor would they except a swap for a different model unit. I am in the process of returning the unit to TNVC.

Looks like I will have to go towards the I2 and a 65$ eagle tac IR in order to take the shotgun recoil.

If anyone else has tried the DBAL d2 on the shotgun with multiple rounds please post and let everyone know your results. Its unfortunate because it was the best setup for the shotgun at night.

Thanks for the info, the trizm looks good. Similar to the laser devices A3 or A2. Ill see what the cost is.

If can get away with leaving eagletac on and a inexpensive ir laser that would be great.

The night stalker and those side set screws, (which the luna ir has and are a pain in the field to adjust) I am guessing would hold zero poorly, but if you could always check it just before the hunt against a reticle like the eotech on the gun that would work.

I am sure you know that with XF choke and dead coyote at 10-15 yards you got to be dead on.

The DBAL D2 did hold the visible laser and ir laser perfectly.

I found this website and dont like what i see so far, but who knows it could be better than the dbal d2... Three in one laser

Mr B....

I have their GreenBeam 1000 laser that I have had for several years. The laser has a set screw that you tighten down AFTER making the windage and elevation adjustments. It is supposed to lock in your x/y adjustments for recoil.

These are the instructions for the sighting in the laser regarding the lock down set screw:

I do not know if the IR laser is the same but I would think it is a similar design. If you need a visible and an IR you could just mount both with apposing mouse pad switches and use the one you want. They are easy to mount.....I used a scope ring with a spacer adaptor I bought online.

Not sure how your shotgun is set up but something along these lines might work with dual green and IR lasers or just use the EagleTac with the IR:

EDIT....just looked at your shotgun pics....how about this with dual lasers??

That is some great info. I am waiting for beamshot rep to call me back to get a price on the trizm and recoil info. ill let you know what i end up doing.

i really want the ir laser because sometimes i hunt in the thick woods and turn it on for long periods. i have to do this because i have to wait until the coyote/fox move from hiding behind a rock or large tree.

i have the mossberg 835 but really should have a remington 870. The remington is so much easier to get parts and accessories.

i just purchased this forend for the 835 and they say it wil also fit the 870. Once i get it ill review it.

mossberg 835 pic forend

I called the beamshot rep and the trizm is for military only. They dont make a civilian version of any ir illum/ir pointer. He suggested the 1000, but did not know if it could take a shotgun recoil. one year warranty. eagle tac = 5 year warranty.

I received the Advanced Technology Talon Aluminum 5-Sided Shotgun Forend Short Rail Package with Nine 2in. Aluminum Picatinny Rails from optics planet. Nice forend and great for adding attachements. It rolls slightly more than my other forend but not a big deal and its worth having all of the rails for less than $100.00. ANd if you dont like it it will fit more than one gun. Comes with multiple ends. winchester, mossberg and remington.

For the price of the IR beamshot I think i would rather have the ital or otal ir pointer. Quick release and easy adjustments.
