Been digging into the Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 from more of a mechanical standpoint, and it’s interesting how much of the design is focused on system balance rather than just raw specs.
The mid-length gas system paired with a 16” cold hammer forged barrel seems to be doing a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of recoil impulse and parts longevity. From what I’ve seen, that setup tends to smooth out cycling and reduce wear compared to shorter gas systems.
Also the free-float M-LOK rail (MFR XS 15.0) is worth noting not just for modularity, but for heat dissipation and weight distribution. It’s one of those setups that feels more “purpose-built” than just throwing rails on for the sake of it.
What I’m curious about is how people feel about the overall system tuning:
