deer hunting with a bow

i have a question, i have a cheapo golden eagle without a peep sight or any sights for that matter! how do i aim a bow without sights, do i line the broadhead up with the target! as you can tell this will be my first actual year of bowhunting!

The best thing to do is have the Bow Inspected by your local Archery pro shop to make sure evrything is good to go with it. Support you local Archery Shop. Ask them the same Question and they should guide you down the right path.

Most likely not but depends on who you go to I guess. The shop I go to in my area charges like five bucks to set you up. I'd definately get into a shop and have the bow checked out and have them set you up. Can't put a price on bein' safe.
 
It would be well worth your time and money to gun to an archery shop...not dicks or bass pro, but an actual archery shop and have them go over the bow to check it out and then put your peep site in and a string loop. I personally would get a kisser button too, especially since your new to this. A new site (cheep site), string loop, kisser button and instalation shouldn't be more than 50-60 bucks...i would guess. now like everything else the sky is the limit here also. If you go to an archery shiop they can also show you form, how to aim, how to shoot basically. Its not that easy to pick up a bow and start hammering arrows. also having everything tuned is a big thing, alsong with having proper equipment if you plan on trying to hunt an animal with it.
 
walmart has the 11 dollar sights and i already bought a peep and loops, i just havent installed them! im just not sure if the sights will fit because this bow is from like 1988!
 
You need to start a good relationship with a mom and pop archery shop. I don't like going to the big box stres for my bow work. The guy working in the shoe department might be the guy working on your bow the next day. making frineds with a local pro shop will help you down the road. We all try to save money. But we all can learn from watching a quality Bow Smith at work. just don't chat their ears off. they can get annoyed. Soon you will be doing the work on your own.
 
Since you're new to bows and the season is pretty close I would agree with the others on taking the bow to a good shop and having it set up.That said if you want to shoot bare bow at some point focus directly on the exact spot (the smaller the better) you want to hit.You'll see the arrow/point in your peripheral vision.It should be below and to the right of the spot.Shoot and see where the arrow hits.On the next shot just compensate your hold by how much you were off by.Never let your eyes shift from the spot to the arrow.Start close around 20 yds or so.Good luck!
 
thanks guys, today im going to take the bow into a shop, im gonna have a peep sight, sights, and release loop installed.
then im going to buy new arrows and a stabilizer! i seen a big 8 point with some velvet by my house in a filed the other day and it got me pumped! thanks for all the advice!

went to the archery shop today and had them put a tru glow sight on my bow, its only a 3 pin but its perfect! they also hooked me up with a peep sight and a release loop. all i have to do now is buy 31 inch arrows with prctice tips and sight her in!!!!

another question zack,

ive noticed the smaller feather type arrows as well as the traditional longer feather style, whats the difference besides thier length in theses fellas?
