Deer rifle in AR platform

Thanks to all that replied.
For ease of my simple knowledge of building ARs I am starting this with a 300 BLK for my daughter to use.
I ordered an upper from PSA as well as Lower kit and bought my Stripped lower locally at a shop here at home.
Ill get this rifle together and see how it shoots before exploring other calibers.
In looking at the 6mm Arc it really looks like an awesome caliber and that will be my next purchase and ill let her choose which she likes.
For ammo at this point I am starting out with Sierra Gamechanger in 125gr.

350 legend, 18 or 20".

put a nice heavy buffer (H3+) behind it and let it rip.

the 150 deerseason XP are absolute deer hammers for our guys who run them.

as others have said, arc or grendel will get the job done well too. my arc is about 2/3 moa with factory 108 eldm's out to 500. ive not run my grendel out to distance yet, but she anchroed a nice buck for me a couple seasons ago :)

If you don't reload, HSM loads the 95gr SST and 95gr Berger VLD's for the 6mm arc.

just out of curiousity - what bullets are ya'll using?

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I use the 150gr DeerSeason XP and 180gr PowerPoints. Overall, the XP's leave better blood trials than the PP's. My preferred shot is a broadside behind the shoulder lung shot, just like I take with my bow. However I have shot a few deer that were quartering hard towards me with the XP's and the results were the same, dead deer within 35 yards. I use the 350 when I am hunting a bow stand basically so even though the deer may only go 30-50 yards I often blood trail them because I am hunting in very thick cover like grown up cutdowns and creek bottoms. As for exits, the XP's tend to leave a larger hole than the PP's. I actually like the XP's for deer and the PP's for hogs.

My daughter is a small girl too. However a 308 bolt action works for her. Remember that in an AR platform the recoil will be reduced even more. What ever you get, make sure it gets the job done. Nothing puts a kid off hunting like wounding something.
