Either its stabilized or its not, if the bullet weight is matched to the twist and velocity is still high enough to keep it stabilized to the intended target whats the problem.

Who said that? If you want to argue about terminal ballistics then start another thread. I'm sure there will be shortage of uninformed participants to keep it entertaining.

Really and truly...I've provided a VERY credible source that confirms the existence of overstabilization. Take it or leave it. Or maybe contact the Canadian military and tell them their artillery experts are wrong.

You did.

"On the three kM kill shot, IF the bullet had been overstabilized, then the bullet may well have bellyflopped to the target."

I said NOTHING about what happens after the bullet strikes.

I've provided reference material that presents fact. Whatever you think of me as the messenger is of no importance to me. Deal with the facts for your own edification...or NOT, makes no difference to me.

On a positive note: A good book to read:

Pejsa"s Handbook of New, Precision Ballistics. By Arthur J Pejsa.

I bet Catshooter has a copy.

Good question. I'd say that a complete understanding of proper stabilization has been made available to anyone who seeks unbiased truth.

Post up a study with rifle ballistics involved and we will take that. This situation you are clinging does not ever, can not ever, and will not ever happen in rifle shooting.

Did it ever occur to you that you could have spent all of that wasted time doing something productive?

Please produce a study that translates this article to rifle shooting. I just don't understand how you think this has anything to do with rifle shooting.

I'm getting in here late, and wow, this is a tough crowd. As far as the big gun ballistics not applying to rifles, I find that very interesting. I, being rather simple minded, always just kinda figured that my 338 Federal followed the same rules of physics that my little 17wmr followed. I am thankful to all the experts that redefined those silly laws so I could understand.

I understand the attempt, but these guns are on such a larger scale than any rifle round can produce. Interesting, sure. Definitive...absolutely not.

It's like watching moths around a bug zapper, you know the outcome, but you still watch anyways.

best thing to do when you cant have your way, is to insult everyone who does not believe you.

[beeep] glad I don't have your life, I'd hate to think I had nothing better to do than spend months researching this and bragging/arguing about it on a hunting forum!!

I was working up a load for one of my 1/8 twist .223's. Was hoping for sub MOA with heavy's(68's and higher).
Imagine my disappointment when, just for fun, I tried some 36 grains Barnes bullets and they shot 3 into less than 1/2". I wanted sub MOA and this overstabilization reared its ugly head and gave me sub .5 MOA.
I was pi$$ed!!!!!!
