Here's an article about somali fraud in MN from the year 2000...that's more than a quarter century ago and nothing was ever done about it then nor yet.

Should be filed under Y because you just can't make this up...

SUITCASES OF CASH: One of the many shocking revelations in the ongoing welfare fraud scandal was the accusation that Somalis were flying suitcases full of stolen cash to Somalia, when any American traveler caught with more than $10,000 at the airport would risk arrest and having it confiscated. Both the House Oversight Committee and the Senate Homeland Security Committee are reportedly fast-tracking hearings into the alleged cash airlifts. The Senate Committee Chairman Rand Paul said he’s bumping up against the federal government and experiencing delays, which means there must already be an active investigation underway.

So how could such massive cash smuggling even be possible? Investigative journalist Walter Curt and Internet researcher DataRepublican have been digging into the numbers. Curt wrote on X that if it’s true that over $700 million was moved through the Minneapolis Airport over the past two years, that’s an average of $1 million every single day. If it was all in $100 bills, that’s 7.7 metric tons of cash. And that’s just what was flagged; who knows how much went undetected? The money allegedly came from fraud in other states as well, but it left the US via the Minneapolis Airport.

So why wasn’t all that cash confiscated, and why did the smugglers route it through Minneapolis? Curt said that after talking to travelers, this is his conclusion:

“The Somalis run the airport. They’re the ground crews. They’re the airport staff. They’re friggin’ TSA. We have an airport in the United States of America run by pirates. That’s kind of a problem.”
