I was searching for some Lead Free Varmint bullets the other day and came across a deal from Natchez that I thought was to good to be true. It was in the "clearance" section under re-loading. If you want some shot for coyotes or long range honkers this is a great price.

Remington Hevi-Shot #2 shot or BB shot. Regular price showed to be $180.00 for 10 pounds, the sale price was $100.00 for 10 pounds. I couldn't believe this price and Remington hasn't been dealing with Hevi-Shot for at least 10 years. The $180.00 for ten pounds is a very old price.

So it was hard for me to believe that this was Hevi-Shot being sold for $10.00 per pound. $10.00 per pound comes to 93.75 cents per 1-1/2 oz shell not counting the shipping.

I called Natchez and talked to them and they assured me that this shot was Remington Hevi-Shot and they had just got in over 100 bags of each shot size. So I ordered some Hornady 35 gr NTX Lead Free bullets and some 6mm Nosler 55 gr Varmint BT Lead Free bullets along with one 10 pound bag of the RHS BB shot.

The shot came in today. It is the real deal, it is magnetic and it is denser than lead. I did weight out one 1-1/2 oz BB load and it had 78 pellets in it.

This shot that I measured was between .160" and .191". This shot looks better than the 7 pounds of Hevi-Shot B shot I got from BPI quite a few years ago. The Hevi-Shot B shot that I bought back then had shot sizes from T shot to #4s in it.

1-1/2 ounces of this Hevi-Shot BB takes up less space than 1-1/2 ounces of lead BB shot.

At this price for this shot you can reload 1-1/2 oz predator loads for about $1.50 per shell when the factory Hevi-Shot loads are selling for $4.50 to $5.50 per shell.

I ordered some more of it today after I checked it out.
 
I ordered some more of this Remington Hevi-Shot from Natchez and thought I would give an update on the shot sizes that I got.

I made two sifters so I could try to sift the shot to get more uniform sizes.

After getting the smaller sifter to work I started sifting 10 pounds of Remington Hevi-Shot BB and 10 pounds of the Remington Hevi-Shot that was supposed to be #2 shot.

I ended up with 6 pounds of Large shot, 5 pounds of medium shot and 9 pounds of the smallest shot.

The smallest shot averaged .170" over the ten pellets I measured. So this smaller shot was B shot. I weighed out four 1 oz loads. Those loads had 57, 58, 59 and 59 pellets per 1 oz.

The medium shot averaged .174" over the ten pellets I measured. This shot was closer to being BB shot. The four 1 oz loads I weighed had 49, 50, 50 and 50 pellets per 1 oz load.

The largest shot averaged .191" over the ten pellets I measured. This shot looks like it is BBB shot. The four 1 oz loads I weighed had 45, 45, 44 and 46 pellets per 1 oz load.

All of this shot should work great on coyotes. I think I will use the B shot size for geese.

Measuring this shot is pretty crazy. If you don't like the reading you get just rotate the pellet till you find the measurement you are looking for. LOL

I bought this shot to use on coyotes and was hoping that I would get some #2, #3 and #4 shot to use on geese.

The smaller shot "B Shot" looks pretty good it has more round pellets with very few clingon pellets stuck to the side of them. I think the clingon pellets wouldn't go through the smaller sifter.

This shot is selling for 50% to 75% less than Hevi-Shot or HW13 shot is selling for at other places.
 
The whole State of California will have to use lead free shot for predators starting on July 1st of 2016. Now is the time to get some of this old Remington Hevi-Shot to re-load for shooting predators.

If you have a shotgun shell re-loader this is a chance to reload some great shells at a decent price.

Both of the #2 shot and BB shot sizes were on the big side so I would get the #2 shot if I were you.

Even with the shipping costs included my cost to re-load these 3" 1-1/2 oz loads in new Fiocchi 3" primed hulls from BPI with BPI TPS wads is only $1.53 per shell. The new factory Hevi-Shot Goose loads with 1-1/2 oz of shot are $4.60 per shell or more.
