Dicks Sporting Goods/Field and Stream

The CEO of Dicks just announced that they won't be selling "assault rifles" or "high capacity magazines" any more. I checked the Field and Stream website this morning and, sure enough, there were no AR's listed. However, I did notice they still had Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifles listed. There's not a lot that really annoys me, but hypocrisy is on the top of the list. I never did shop there much, but it doesn't seem like there's any reason for me to go back at this point.

I heard that too. I went to my email box and was going to unsubscribe to their emails but I had already deleted it. The only thing I ever buy at Dick's is Nike socks and I can find them somewhere else now. I think Dick's mostly cater to yuppie types anyway.

That reminds me, I need to call and cancel/close out my First Bank Card NRA credit card too.

they did the same thing after sandy hook. there's a dicks/F&S store here, the dicks side doesn't have guns, they're on the F&S side.

prices tend to be high. I go in maybe twice a year to look around & then end up not buying anything due to the prices.

it does occur to me that refusing to sell long guns to people under 21 but who are old enough to legally buy them under the law amounts to age discrimination. wonder if any hungry lawyers are licking their chops over this yet?

Been in Dick's twice since they opened (Oct. 5, 2015) and was very disappointed both times. No loss as I had already written them off.

Regards,
hm

i go to the local F&S once in a while to shop in the fly fishing department and check for tying materials but thats it.

i wrote off dicks as a shopping location post sandy hook, so no loss to me. and even before that like stu mentioned, they're overpriced on most stuff anyway so its not like i lost my favorite gun shop in the first place. or even my 5th favorite.

honestly i'm more shocked that they started carrying AR's again in the first place after the big show they made about after SH.

To [beeep] with Dick's. Like somone above said. They cater mostly to the Yuppies. They sell more footballs, basketballs, tennis balls and stuff that outdoor stuff that I like to buy. I don't think I've bought anything major from Dicks Sporting Goods store in Evansville, IN in a very long time. They just recently moved their store to a new location within about a mile of the old store. I guess they think that being next door to Best Buy will improve their traffic an sales but I doubt it now.

This will back fire as the people that actually buy AR15 don't shop at Dicks anyway. We have many other stores to buy an AR15 from.

So to [beeep] with Dicks.

Enterprise and Hertz can kills my a&& too.

They have a Dick's in Casper, went in there once waiting for my cell phone store to open. As Stu said, over priced and not much gear for the serious hunter. Never been back, I now go to Hot Topic when waiting for cell phone place to open, mainly to look at the hippie chicks that look like they tripped and fell in a tacklebox!

Businesses need to tend to business and stay out of political issues. I will be happy to buy what I need from places that welcome me as a customer. Stores that try to control what I buy can do without my business. It would be nice to have a list of places that don't value us outdoor people as customers.

No real loss. Dicks sucks anyways. Now walmart is on the bandwagon too. That is slightly annoying cuz it was the best place to get cheap shotgun shells. No big deal, I buy 95 percent of ammo and firearms online.
