The dogs just keep them moving in circles sometimes it’s 5 0r 6 hundred yards other times it can stretch out to 10 or 14 miles, when that happens we catch the first pack, regroup and put in new ones.

Wow! Congrats on a good day and a black one to boot!

I’ve not heard of running them with beagles. Larger hounds are the preferred option around here. I had beagles for years here in NY for running rabbit and hare. I know of a couple guys from the beagle clubs I was in that lost beagles to coyotes.

I had a tiny little squall mouth bitch that on more than one occasion would get coyotes worked up outside of the 200 acre beagle clubs fence when running at night. I think her high pitched voice was the trigger. I never had a problem running her in the wild, but it was always in my head that she was no match for a coyote should the situation arise.

Anyway, congratulations on a great day out with your dogs.

Thanks, we use beagles because there are so many roads its easier to keep up or go around them. Ironickly a single beagle will keep the yote moving although we typically go in with three or four. We and we rarely have a problem with the Coyote turning on them
