Digital Lock question on my gun safes (SG digital lock)

The digital lock vs. the dial lock debate aside, this question is probably more suited to someone who already owns a safe with a digital lock.

I have have had two identical Summit gun safes for about six years, and I am very satisfied with both. Both have SG digital locks and both are set for the same combination. I really like the locks, and I have had not a speck of trouble from them. During initial setup, the lock instructions offered me the choice of setting up a management reset code (to erase everything), a master code (for standard opening) and up to seven user codes. Since I am not a business I did not set up any user codes and I use the master code only to enter the safe.

My question is should I have set up at least one user code and use it instead of the master code, and save the master code. That would give me two combos to enter the safe instead of only one in case the computer chip fouls up and forgets a code. Or am I overthinking this, cause if the computer chip fouls up it will probably erase everything.

My digital combo lock is the most common one out there. What are you other digital lock guys doing.

I had a safe {AmSec} with a SG digital. I wouldn't worry about it...when it decides to not let you in, as mine did me...it wont matter how many codes or combos you had set up. You aint getting in that safe again until you call the locksmith and get it drilled. Then you will install a mechanical. They are fool proof...if you cant get in at that point it is your fault, not the locks.
