Digital Poder Dispensers / Scales

Folks,
I've been looking at the digital dispenser scale combinations and wondering if they are any good ? I've only read about the RCBS and the PACT .

If anyone uses or used them I'd like to hear the pros /cons and a good place to purchase .

Thank you all in advance for your time and help.

RCBS Chargemaster for several years. Once I got one, the Uniflow gathers dust, except for blasting pistol ammo. You will get slight overages from time to time with long stick powders. I just fish out a few granules with a plastic spoon. Same as when using a trickier and a beam scale. Unless you are a serious competitor, it will throw most times spot on. Takes the drudgery out of weighing powder. Depending on amount and type of powder, it will have a charge ready every 10-15 seconds. Gives you enough time to seat a bullet instead of waiting.

Can't say it any better than that.

Envy doesn't begin to describe how I feel about the picture above!

I have the Gen 6 Lyman and I like it quite well...it works just great for me. The thing I like to do is keep the scale on for a good while before and after use...I don't feel the 'warm-up cycle" is always enough and some variances can be seen. I do not know if there is any fact to this, but it makes me feel better!

I have a couple of Pact dispensers. I had a problem with the slow portion of the dispenser not dispensing correctly. Called Pact in Texas (where they are made) and the fellow on the phone told me to pull on the tube and twist one rotation. Sometimes powder dust can get in there. I did just that and it works perfectly again. I have had no problems in the 10 plus years i've had them. So i ordered another scale, as i wanted to upgrade. I'd buy from them again. Incidentally you order directly from them.

Thank you for your prompt responses .
How about the PACT ? I've read that PACT use to make the scale for RCBS although I don't know if it's true .

Seems like the RCBS is a favorite , how's their warranty ?
I only asked about the PACT because it's made in Texas USA .

Please respond with comments .

Thank you .

I had a PACT for yeras. It had an issue linking up at about age 15 so I sent it and they fixed it. Later I upgraded to the faster dispense. Meanwhile the wife bought me an RCBS Charge Master so when I got my upgrade back I passed it on to a fellow at a decent price. It did great for me.

PACT made the original RCBS and Dillon SCALES not the dispensers.

Either way have a rock solid bench or put your dispenser/scale and press on different benches. The press seating a bullet will throw your scale off unless you do one of these things. After I figured that out and beefed up around my press I haven't had an issue.

Very good advice.
I fill 50 cases and then seat 50 bullets for that reason.
It doesn't take that much longer, and I don't get in a hurry loading rifle rounds.
I'm an old retired person so I can manage to find time to do a couple hundred rounds a month to a single kernel consistency without worrying about a couple extra minutes here and there.

I have 2 smaller benches and have the press and scale separate for this very reason. Also some other electronics and lighting, high air flow flans etc can all effect scales.

IIRC, there are a couple scheels stores in Nebraska, maybe one is close to you? The scheels 1500 powder charger has been a good unit for me. It is a little cheaper than rcbs and everything with the scheels name is lifetime warranty. Simply carry it to the store and walk out with a new in box unit.

Gonna throw this out there - Don't buy the Hornady Lock-n-Load Auto-Charge powder dispenser. I bought one, was very happy with it for about 2yrs, it took a dump. One year warranty, no repairs, no discount on replacement, just $250 sunk into a paperweight. Got a deal on another one (hoping the first was a fluke), it made it just under a year before taking a dump - warranty replacement. 3rd one made it another 2yrs before it went south too. Great machines when they work, but once they go bad, there's no coming back, and no warranty protection at all after a year - if you DO have a warranty claim, it's not a repair, it's a no-questions replacement. Hornady is a great company and generally makes great products, but they contract this one out and it's junk.

2 Green Machines and one Lyman on my bench now. Happy as a clam.

RCBS Chargemaster:

Natchez - $279.99
Midway USA - $349.99
Amazon - $300.00
Cabela's - $300.00
Brownells - $300.00
Graf & Sons - $369.99

Quite a spread in prices. Got one a few years ago on sale from
either Natchez or Grafs but do not recall which one. I have been
much more pleased with it than the old Lyman 1200 which took a
dump after a couple years. It had quirks from the get-go.

if you catch the rebates, you can have a chargemaster on your bench for just over $200

the current rebate is spend $300 and get $75 back. The good part is their rebate is collective - by that i mean you can combine multiple items to acheive the $300 rebate trigger, its not just based on a single item purchase.

if you want to get really crafty, wait for a cabela's bucks deal to show up - one of the $30 off of $150 or more when you do buy it and come out even more ahead of the game. these type of discounts do not effect rebates, it is solely based on the item sale price itself.

other than my progressive press, its probably one of my favorite upgrades i've done to my reloading kit!
